For the Basketball Fans...Kobe Bryant Killed in a Helicopter Crash...

The news on Kobe's passing is hitting me and my 33 year old son like a ton of bricks. I'm an old L.A. fanboy. Even though my enthusiasm for the sport of basketball has diminished greatly in the last ten years, I will forever be a Laker fan, and a Kobe Bryant fan. I doubt there will ever be another franchise star like Kobe that will have a career with just one team. Kobe was a class act on the court and off the court. Many of today's professional players could, or need to, learn a lot from the late Kobe Bryant. R.I.P. Kobe
 
So...I started this thread and I'm saddened by the death of Kobe and his daughter. But do we really need to cancel all TV shows on every channel to
talk about it? This is proof to me that our society puts way to much value on the wrong things. Soldiers and police get 30 seconds in passing, but
a guy who threw a ball in a hoop makes the world stand still...
 
R.I.P. Kobe ...and very much his daughter as well -- I was not a follower but HAD heard of his being a good egg.
I lost a friend to a plane crash 2 years ago-- he was the pilot -- a very good guy local attorney raised 2 daughters on his own after his wife passed young--ex marine-- Vietnam vet--never remarried--and very civic oriented we were in Kiwanis together-- in the plane with him both his daughters AND their husbands --- an entire family and its future wiped out in an instant --
it was as you say Chris 30 seconds in passing.....

Very Sorry for Kobes family and parents --

BUt agree with Chris the importance put on game players and actors is way out of proportion

I agree fully. I think we should also add the innocent people killed by drunk drivers. And those that are murdered whos Family's are left behind to pick up the pieces.
