For R/C junkies

I have to say flying a model of this caliber would be phenomenal! I seen a Russian fighter Jet that was huge, but not anywhere that size for $50,000, I don't want to even guess the cost , but there would be many would have to sell their house in order to have the cash to build this Beauty!
 
Yes! I believe he got disoriented . You have to be focused at all times. he wasn't sure which position and angle the plane was at. This stuff happens.

Think I’ve mentioned before. My dad flew RC. Nothing like any of these. But he was pretty good at what he flew. As you say Norm. Things happen. He had one get away from him. Got out of range. Maybe battery on receiver died. Last he saw it, it was headed west out over a corn field. He put his name and phone number on his planes and a few months later when the farmer was out picking corn the farmer found it and called him. Plane was a write off. I think the engine was ok. Maybe some of the electronics. Guess it flew quite awhile before coming down.
 
That's not the first time i have heard a story like that iblive ,it has happened. I fly a lot, this year was a good year for me. My planes handled flawlessly and had a real blast, had good weather but very hot. Thankfully no incidents. We are under Transport Canada, we have a committee who works with them , Its different flying to day than when i started 30 years ago. There are many rules and regulations now that we have to follow and you better be following them! or you will have some big issues with them. All members now have 7 Million liability insurance each. There is also the dealings with Zone directors as well. Of course they want us to keep a clean record, and we need to , if we want to keep our fields and keep flying. But what a great hobby, its my number 1 Passion. Hope i can continue to do this for many years to come..:)
 
He strained one thru a fence one time. I believe that one may have been pilot error. Guess when it hit, the plane stopped and the engine kept going for a few feet. That one was a write off as well.
 
Pilot error does happen, when just learning be prepared. Back in the day when i started we didn't have buddy boxes and auto gyro. So today there is more things available to help people learning at taking up the hobby, and with Instructors like myself, who give of their time , gives students a much better start. When you become experienced there is less issues in losing control or crashing. Now sometimes we push the limit, the thing is not to push too hard or you can have a problem. In my 30 years i have totaled 3 planes . I have had a few fender benders, but nothing to speak about, now i had one major smackup due to student learning he broke a rule and the Instructor he had broke it too. They both kept apologizing over and over to me after the accident, The Instructor took my wing home and repaired it, and i dealt with the fuselage which was in very bad shape tail section was torn out and the firewall was ripped off, it was a mess, but you wouldn't know it now. That winter i repaired it all like new, they couldn't believe it was the same plane. Well they learned the hard way at my expense, but at least they learned from it. Things can happen, the thing is stay cool and enjoy the day. :) Here's a few pics of her now after the repairs.
