I can’t answer for everyone. I can only tell how it all worked for me. I did get the first two vaccines as soon as they were available for my age bracket. I have received three boosters. All I can say is…. I have not contracted the virus. And yes…. I have been directly exposed. At least twice I’m aware of. First time had my youngest grandkid sitting in my lap….. only to find out a few days later she had tested positive. Did not get sick. Next time was a few months ago after my wife’s school year had ended. Took a week and got out of Dodge. Hours sitting inches apart in the car. Hotel room. Sharing wine and food samples. Got home on a Friday. She tested positive on Saturday. There is a 100% chance I was exposed. I did not get sick. So when people ask me if the vaccines and boosters are a good idea…. This 68 year old will give an unequivocal yes!!!MSN

Having the vaccine and boosted is not a 100% guarantee one won't get infected. It does seem that if fully vaccinated and you do catch it... you don't get as sick and most likely will not end up in the hospital. My wife felt like poop for a couple days. Fever. Achy. If she hadn't tested she would have blown it off as the seasonal flu. And again. I won't editorialize beyond that. I can only report how it been for us.I don't know if it's the vaccines or maybe I'm just lucky. I havent contracted it that I am aware of. Both my wife and I have had 5 shots each and she came down with it back in June and I didnt.
The other thing to consider is the fact I havent had so much as a cold since this all began. Maybe the combination of extra precautions and the vax are keeping me safe? I don't know, I just count my blessings that I'm healthy right now.
I am of the mind set, better to have it and not need it, than need it and suffer.
Just my 2 cents
