First pick

Asparagus is really early this year. Everything seems to be about three or four weeks ahead of season - I got corn on the cob at the supermarket this week.
I hope that isn't a sign that we're in for a particularly brutal Summer...

Asparagus is great grilled. You can roll it in a little balsamic and oil (or even bottled Italian dressing) and grill it. Wonderful.
Of course there's always the classic pairing: steamed asparagus with Hollandaise.
It helps to shave the bases of the fat ones so they aren't too fibrous.

I dated a chef for several years; she made me eggs Benedict with asparagus once or twice. It was great, as were all of her breakfasts. She used to make her own variation on eggs Blackstone, grilled tomato slices & bacon under the poached eggs with Bernaise on top instead of the more usual herbed Hollandaise.
It was super rich.

When we broke up I lost fifteen pounds without trying, just from no longer eating like a king every day.

Blanch it 2-3 minutes. Dump in ice water. Make a salad of the asparagus, tomatoes and your choice of cheese. Parmesan works as does Feta. Balsamic dressing.

Grilled was mentioned. I do the same. Toss spears in olive oil. Salt and pepper. Grill. I have a grill wok that make it really easy to turn and toss on the grill.

Another grilling method would be to wrap 3-4 spears with a strip of bacon. Then grill.

Steam it. steam just enough there’s some crunch and it doesn’t become all soft and mushy.

Or you can boil the crap out of it. Add lots of butter, salt and pepper.

There’s a bunch of asparagus soup recipes out there. Choose one and have at it.

Real cream of asparagus soup is a true joy.

Feta was a great suggestion; asparagus stands up well to strong flavors.
I have some goat cheese with lavender that might be great with asparagus. Hmmm...

Too bad I already have my groceries for the next week or so.
Not making any unneccessary trips to the store these days.

Oh man some good suggestions guys. Usually I fry in butter or steam with a slab of meat. It grows all over here where I'm at so as long as I keep up on picking it ill have it most of summer. I tend to eat a lot as I'm picking it.

You already have fresh corn another of my favorites. Where you at that the corn is already coming off. My neighbors corn hasn't even broke the dirt yet. Looking forward to the corn next door its the best in our county

I'm in New York; it can't possibly be local. Seems unlikely to be from Florida or California somehow.
Mexico maybe? It's Autumn in Chile, perhaps a late season batch from down there.

well the wife ended up cooking last night so she did the asparagus in butter, can't blame her thats how I thought her. So tonight I'll cook and show her another way to prepare it. Maybe I'll fry some bacon and then as its getting close toss the asparagus in with it. We'll see i have all day to think about what I'd like to do

well went out today after the job I had and picked about 10lbs of blackberries, 50lbs of fryer potatoes fresh out of ground and about 50 ears of the best corn available
Looking to make a blackberry jam and blanch strip and freeze corn. I'm about to get real busy now.
