First Day Into Vacation and I'm Already Griswolding It Up

Welp...true to my dumbass ways, I made a massive error into the first day of our vacation. I booked a week in Nags Head, NC for a week following behind 2 days to Williamsburg VA first and did this months ago to get a good rate. I booked the days, read them over and over but for some reason, I had a brain stinker ( lets blame it on work and stress!) and so we showed up here a day early lmao

My wife had even asked a few times prior " aren't we leaving June 24th and coming back July 3rd?" And i dumbly argued " No no, its the 23rd to 2nd!". The hotel clerk at Williamsburg was super cool and just moved the 2 days up one spot but that means I have an open day this Saturday the 25th ( that happens to be my anniversary too) Well long story short: she's got a big I-told-you-so coming and I'm out extra money for having to book an extra night by staying in nearby VA Beach before Nags Head since this place is booking up now and my previous spot is gone.

And this is only day 1, so im sure there's more to follow lmao

OMG Mike. this reminds me why I was so glad to be a bachelor my first 50+ years.
Hell, I would sometimes go on vacations or get the heck out of dodge to forget my troubles type trips. I would not even have lodgings sometimes. In those cases, it might be a day or 2 trip where I actually would goof off till the wee hours of the night, then walk the boardwalks, or night sightsee, and basically stay up all night till sunrise. Then would come sleeping time. Lay out my blanket/sheet/ beach towel on a beach and sleep till maybe noon when the sun might begin to burn a sleeping soul. One night I remember doing similar to this but I had booked a hotel room at the ocean. But before retiring to bed alone, I met a couple girls out on the boardwalk and we got to talking and they were up for a little cruising and hunting some grub. The 3 of us went cruising for late night carry out places, found food and went up to their room at our same hotel. I had good fun with nice company, ate and watched some tube. Then innocently finished that night sleeping in my own room, getting a nice shower and hitting the beach once rested.

Other fun trips were when married buddies and I would go cruising on out Harleys into the mountains of Va, NC and we'd camp in the Blue Ridge Parkway and set back out a little after sunrise to enjoy the cool scenery of mists over the valleys etc.

Glad to hear I am not alone in Murphy's law vacations tho. Enjoy your adventure.
