That last pic is nasty looking. Kind of like a mushroom cloud, yikes.

And a sound like no other...like standing next to an express train and a jet engine at the same time...and you can feel the air rushing past you into the funnel...the pressure drop is sudden and intense, you can feel your ears pop...many houses are blown apart from the inside by the rapid, external pressure drop. You would be shocked what 14.7psi will do to a structure when it is 20in/Hg outside. Grandma used to run through the house and open all the windows she could on the way to the storm cellar.

Late season tornados in Illinois are usually not good. A few years back there was the one that hit Washington Ill. About like Taylorville, looked like a vacuum cleaner had gone thru. Missed the School my eldest works at by about 100 yards. Shrapnel still caused damage to school.
