Ok, guys...
Well, Jim (vocalist) and I got together and we were doing a patent/trademark search and found that "geezer" is indeed a protected name (and several bands are using it too) so we needed to come up with something else and fairly quickly. All the really cool, dark, heavy-metal themed names were in use, so i started thinking...we need something that won't paint us in the corner of JUST being a Judas Priest musical tribute - for example calling ourselves Diamonds & Rust or Painkillerz, so i tried to find something we could use that wasn't already being marketed as a band.
What I came up with was "Fire Control." This may conjure up images of a band made up of fire fighters - which isn't a bad thing to be known for actually, but in reality, A
fire-control system is a number of components working together, usually a gun data computer, a director, and radar, which is designed to assist a weapon system in targeting, tracking and hitting its target. It performs the same task as a human gunner firing a weapon, but attempts to do so faster and more accurately.
So, we did a trademark search and didn't get any hits, so we decided that - rather than hash this out for weeks and weeks in hopes of coming up with something a bit more "metallic" in nature, we would just adopt it and move forward.
Here's the quickie logo I generated for us:

Plans are in the woks for a dedicated website with discussion forums and private email for the band members.
Maybe not the coolest, most metalistic effort, but it keeps us moving forward and allows us to cross over from the Judas Priest Musical Tribute theme to a general 1980's Rock/Metal Cover band.
As always, I invite your thoughts and comments....
