I bought a used Quilter Mini 101 Reverb head with a Quilter Blockdock 10 cab during the pandemic lockdown. My back couldn't take the weight of tube amps any more. It sounds great at home practice levels but I haven't had a chance to play it loud. I've chronicled my attempts to start a band elsewhere on here. I ended up playing bass because three guitars wasn't working out. We had a practice last night and my back was sore from a hard day at work so I used my nice, light SG with the Quilter playing rhythm and a few of the bass lines. The Tokai Pbass is awesome but it is very heavy. I tried a bit of lead on an R.E.M. song, "The One I Love". The Quilter sounded very sweet. I had the gain on ten and the limiter on eight. The limiter is a weird sort of compression control. Quilter is very evasive about what it actually does. The name is appropriate. It limits the gain. It sounds gritty but at the same time very articulate. It's hard to describe. Next time, if I'm not playing bass, I'll record some of the practice.
