Finally got to my Traynor YCV80Q

Finally had some time to roll some tubes in my YCV80Q. I bought this amp almost six months ago. It hasn't seen a lot of use because it's so heavy to get in and out of venues. Last time I used it the reverb had a lot of static which got worse as it warmed up. I switched out the Sovtek's in V1 and V3 for some JJ's I had laying around. I cleaned off the jacks for the reverb. No more static and the amp is a little mellower in tone but still lots of gain on tap if needed.

Thanks, the two that get the most use are the Blackstar for practicing and the Pro Jr. for live use. The Pro Jr is a heck of an amp in a small package.

I just stumbled on to this thread. You have some very nice amps, KB.

As far as Traynors from the 70s to 80s, is there a good source of info for these? I'm trying to remember what kind of frickin Traynor I had for a very brief time back in '77 or '78.
 
I have a 1974 Traynor YGM3. 20w single 12”. Awesome amp. Once upon a time I belonged to a Traynor Forum. Lots of good info could be found there. Problem is. Don’t remember which one it was. That bookmark is in our old desktop that never gets turned in anymore. I did just Google Traynor Amp Forums and found at least one that seems current.
 
Glad you got it sorted.
It is not uncommon that the old tubes may be ok and just pulling and seating tubes cleaned up the socket contacts.
I did have a 12ax7 that got progressively scratchy / static-y-ier (?) until replacement.
that one had the vacuum seal fail as evidenced by the white coating on the glass at the getter flash.
(or is it the getter flash turns white?)
