Fenders and extension cabs

So I was looking at speaker suggestions for my BD and extension cab, I don't have any 8ohm speakers so was looking to buy one for my 1x12 cab to use with my BD. I was reading a thread on GP and this came up.
Adding an Extension Cab to a Fender Combo
Now that could change everything as my 1x12 has a G12-65 16ohm in it & I have another one on the shelf so I could swap that into the BD and add the extension cab for the 8ohm load.
Just wondering if any of you amp guru's or more experienced guys have any experience/knowledge/thoughts on this?

I would think that if the amps 2 speaker jacks are wired in parallel, then plugging into 2 separate 16 ohm speakers will give the tranny an 8 ohm load.

Is your G12-65 a Creamback or a Heritage?
Super 65's I pulled from an old Kustom cab.

They sound good in an open back cab but I was thinking of putting them in my 2x12 and pulling the WGS set I have and use them with the Fender.
