Fellow Flying V users

Fitz, what reason(s) do you base this on? Is it because the one I can get has several pro's to choosing it, or just because of how your experience with yours is?
In searching, I always have numerous reasons to pick one guitar over another. 1st is always PRICE for what Quality build and sound/playability/ergonomics it has. 2nd is distance from me to buy, and 3rd is usually condition and desirability of the model. One thing I cannot stand is bad nibs on bound necks. This is one concern I have on the 2016 Gibson Trad Pro models. Unbound necks don't have this issue. Having said that, I am a huge fan of frets that go fully to the edges of the fretboards.
Zero science going on in my decision...
When I decided I wanted a V, it had to be a Gibson.
Always loved the look of the classic '67 cherry V, and the RI faded cherry can be had for quite a bit less.
I get what you mean with the price, and distance to buy (or shipping) is part of that.

The neck profile & unbound fretboard are almost identical in feel to my Studio & Tribute LPs, so it was instantly familiar.
I got a great deal on my '06, and I've since messed around with pups and wiring.
The 498T was a little hot for my taste, so I've swapped it for a 490T.
Flipped the 2V-1T to 1V-2T with 250k pots and tamed the treble a little more.

And here is a 2007 Faded that I have dealt with this player/seller before when I bought my PRS Santana SE. This one comes with Black Winter pickups and Sperzel Locking tuners along with the original tuners and case.

This is the same as my guitar. Faded V, Black Winter, but mine sports Gotoh tuners.
It could very well be my favorite guitar.

Mark, if I had the cash I would be driving down to Atomic in MD to check out the Gibson 2008 faded cherry V they have listed at $1399

If it checked out properly for condition and function, no bad neck dive, and the neck felt right for me = rounder / fatter profile - it would be coming to NJ!!

I have not had any GAS nor made any purchases for at least a year and a half; this is the first thing since that has me GASsed up!

I went to see Wishbone Ash last night. Andy was playing the Guyton Flying V he has been using for ages, and also a new Tatalius model. Chris Tatalius has been making a signature model of Andy's original '67 Flying V that was used to record Argus, but I had not seen Andy playing a '58 style with P-90s. The last tour he used both the Tatalius '67 signature and a '58 style with humbuckers. I was intrigued. It sounded good, and looks great. It didn't have the real squirrelly over the top sound of Mark's '55 Les Paul Junior, but still sounded good. Now, I may have to add a Flying V with P-90s to the stable. They keep taunting me.

I didn't see the 2008 Faded online @ Atomic. But I did see the one I posted with the Washburn Wonderbar Whammy. They want like $1519 for that one and it has been up for sale for a year. I did see a couple other ones listed. PS, I just checked on Reverb @ Atomic. I did see the Faded V now. Maybe it is not on their regular site.

How would you describe the neck on your V?
If it is anything like my Walnut Faded SG, it is decently chunky, not a slim taper.

I would say mine sits right in the middle, not necessarily thin, but not chunky.
It's not a Jackson neck, but certainly thinner than 60s Les Paul necks. More of a D than a C.
Feels similar to my explorer necks.

HAHA I just noticed that your last post before you replied to me was post 11,111

I sure wish the Faded V's asking prices were closer to the price of what people are getting for a Faded SG.
Realistically I am wanting a not beat to heck, good bones killer V for under $1000 and if I hit it right, $500 is even better. Apparently a tough ask where it comes to V's, as Mitch and I discussed previously.

Here is a WHITE V from 2000. The seller wants $2500 or a comparable trade value guitar. ES 335, SG with a Maestro Trem, a High End Firebird etc.
I definitely am up against it trying to talk his price down when a similar current V 70's model costs $2499 at Sweetwater.

2000 Gibson ‘67 Flying V Alpine White Ebony Fretboard w/Case

Open to trades. Looking for other Gibson guitars. Would ideally be looking for a 335 of some variation, a nice firebird V, or a good SG with the maestro arm and tailpiece Fantastic playing and sounding V with no issues at all. Nearly a 25 year old instrument. Original pickups have been swapped for a Seymour Duncan Seth Lover in the neck and a Gibson 57 Classic + in the bridge. I have the original uncovered pickups if you’d like them. Some wear for a 25 year old guitar but in all the right places. Super fast playing neck. The ebony fretboard is really nice. Just an absolutely fantastic instrument, I just don’t play it as much as I should.

Wow!!! That would sure look good next to that white SG @chilipeppermaniac !!!
It would, But only if I got it for $1000 and not $2500 and a drive to NY to retrieve it.
I am also considering selling the Cream ( white ) SG STD. Maybe my SG Classic, and a few other Guitars, Chainsaws, Dirtbikes, Spare vehicles. Dog...

Oh yeah, I forgot, the dog died.

It’s not worth all that…IMO…but I can understand the sentiment.

That isn't the only reason I am selling stuff bro DON. With the passing of my mom and funding her care, then settling up her estate and taxes etc, then 2 years later, spending another 30K taking care of my dad and now having to incur more costs to fix up his house, pay his taxes, insurances, estate fees and gas, wear and tear on myself and my vehicles,
I am needing to raise cash and pinch pennies wherever possible.

An occasional goodie like a nice V, PRS, or cool Bass to treat myself isn't unreasonable.

Had no idea where that was gonna go…so…in light of that…whatever makes you happy sir!…of course.
