Here is another V question for anyone who owns one or has played any from any of the manufacturers, Gib, EPI, Jackson, Dean, etc.

Which V's have the widest/thickest necks? My favorite necks from the guitars I own are found on my SG Faded and SG Classic. My most narrow neck is the 1 9/16 from my Cream colored '76 SG STD. It is fairly thick despite being narrow.

Well Mark, My 58 V has a .090" thick neck at the first fret the 2000 LE Explorer has a massive fat neck never measured it the 1965 SG standard has a 1 15/16" wide neck
yesterday played the new used PRS 245 SC plugged in for the first time the WF neck profile is real close to the 58 V and exact to the 1991 PRS Custom 24 I had in the past.

Thanks, 67plexi. That 1 15/16 is huge. If Robert were alive, he would love that neck.

My 76 SG is the total opposite @ 1 9/16.

I had a US RR1 lightning bolt, that neck seemed wide. I wish I could have adapted my playing to that guitar.

The V that jtcnj was referring to when he asked if I had finished redoing it, is an RR3 that I have in my bureau drawer. It began life Black,
Now it is a Green Glitter waiting on Nitro.
I'm wanting my next V to be either a King V, Gib V, Dean V in the symmetrical config.

I think that my V2 has the 1.687“ wide fingerboard. It has a very round shape, and not quite sure of the neck thickness. I know my homemade ‘58 style V has a fingerboard slightly over 1.700. It is also about .9” at the 1st fret, and as my older friends have said “quite easy on their carpel tunnel issues or arthritis.”

I was hunting for some guitars at my local fave guitar store where I got my ES135.
I think I am liking this EPI with a case as one option.




Another pretty cool one at the same shop. I'm not so sure about the Washburn WonderBar Trem, or the $1500+ price, But I am considering checking it out and making an offer. It is a 2018

Another one of my favorites is this Jackson King V and a few others I have found. This one is without the Floyd, but I am also hunting one with a Floyd if I can find one in the right price range.




I really like this one too, and the price is not hateful either. It's just a little ride up to Altoona PA to get it.

The necks on the Jacksons regardless of nut width seems wide to me. All nice guitars here.

To me the Jackson Vs and such look more like shredder or thrash metal Vs.The Gibsons and Epis look more like the Classic rock Vs.

Fitz, what reason(s) do you base this on? Is it because the one I can get has several pro's to choosing it, or just because of how your experience with yours is?
In searching, I always have numerous reasons to pick one guitar over another. 1st is always PRICE for what Quality build and sound/playability/ergonomics it has. 2nd is distance from me to buy, and 3rd is usually condition and desirability of the model. One thing I cannot stand is bad nibs on bound necks. This is one concern I have on the 2016 Gibson Trad Pro models. Unbound necks don't have this issue. Having said that, I am a huge fan of frets that go fully to the edges of the fretboards.
