February Weather??

Ottawa IL, a town not to far away from me got slammed bad, 1 dead, destroyed a nursing home leveled a good portion of the town.

Yeah Rick, Ottawa isn't that far from here, I have a good friend that lives there, his in laws home was completely destroyed, the in laws were OK. our sirens were going off all evening.
 
Whoa i just watched on the news of film footage shot of the Twisters in Illinoise town of Ottawa.terrible there Guitarweasel.
 
There was nothing up here by the border. We got a bunch of rain, but very little wind. Reminds me a lot of the twister that hit Washington Ill a few Novembers ago. Just missed the Jr. High my oldest son teaches at. Missed it by less than 100 yards. The sub division where a lot of his kids lived was just gone. Looked like a vacuum cleaner had passed thru.

And in 24 hours we've gone from 50s-60s and severe weather to 20s and snow. Screwed up weather for sure.

Prayers for the folk in the Ottawa area that's lost everything.

That reminds of of the Belvidere Tornado of '67. My mother has told me quite a bit about it. It hit a school in Belvidere, Illinois and killed kids who were getting out of school, some of whom were sitting ducks in the school buses. That was back when there was pretty much no type of advance warning or forecasting of tornadoes.

That tornado killed 24 people, 13 of them were kids.

Don't remember that one. But that really sucks.
 
I think the weather world wide has gone crazy... One day we get 38C and sunny skies, then its 28C, 98% humidity and rain...
Last night was hot, humid, thunder and lightning and lots of rain. Very tropical monsoon type weather, which is strange, considering Perth is in a Temperate zone...
This is the weirdest weather we've had in a long time.
