Favorite "Sleeper" Guitars

Ibanez. The hard tail RG's are hard to beat and I don't mind the lower model Trem's either. I don't whammy much so as long as they stay in tune I am straight.
I bought this Ibanez S Classic for $125 in a Pawn Shop. It was like brand new and MIJ! Swap out the electronics, pots are normally on off for the most part as expected with budget guitars.

its a few "frets" away from being a flat out GEM --- thought about colored pup covers and a FUNKY bowling ball paint job ,........................................but then...................................it WOULDNT be a basic black (ew its ugly and plain) "sleeper" now would it ???????

My other entries for sleeper guitars are PRS SE and Mira type guitars. And as mentioned Jackson's, Ibanez, Ltd/Esp

My fav sleeper ever were the original (late '70's/early '80's) Epiphone Genesis models.

They were extremely well-made and sounded for all the world like a Les Paul.

Did you have one, G? In all my life, I never heard of this guitar. My similar yummy DC type guitars are the Yamaha 2000/4000 models I think they are called. And some Framus's,. And how can I forget,. MY Washburn HB 30 I got from smittyp. One heck of an awesome Es335 type guitar at 1/5 to 1/10th the cost of a Gib ES 335/345/355

My LTD MH-100QMNT (such a catchy model name). It's the bolt neck version of the more expensive through-neck models. I prefer bolt necks anyway.

I got it as a Christmas/birthday present in 2015. I have changed the pickups, rewired to '50s style wiring, leveled the frets, beveled the fret ends, rolled the fretboard edges, and re-cut the nut. Now (as most of y'all probably know) it's become my favorite guitar. It plays like a dream, and sounds fantastic.

No, by this time I had my '77 Les Paul Custom, but several guys I knew had them and they were excellent. Made in Japan if I remember correctly and they had no-BS hardware and pickups.
