Favorite metal guitar amp(s)?

UNDERDOG!!!! It's my favorite part of that pic!
Oh, yeah, and all that other uber-cool stuff too. Which by the way I am jealous of.

been called that since 1975, what is great abut that rig for metal is the bottom cab is ported & handles the downtune which such ease & records crazy good

And here's a couple more to consider:

Even though now they categorize them as "Industrial Metal", I've always considered them plain and pure Industrial and Concrete Hardcore music back from the early pre-stigmata days... Alan "Alien" Jourgensen rules!!!
is this metal techno?

But let's not forget that they started out as an alternative/underground dance band before finding a harder edge...

Here some high gain monster amps..... Yes Normanhurst they used Orange amp too.... lol

That's a very cool shootout. To my ears, at least the way they were EQ'd and recorded, the JVM and Fireball were the standouts. The Marshall cut through impressively in the mix and the Engl just sounds like it wants to hurt you. The others were OK, except for the Randall, which sounded muddy and imprecise to me in this video.

Yeah, I am really coming full-circle on Marshall tone. I played them for many years, primarily a JCM 800 (2205) along with a few others, and then started drifting away from them around the late '90s/early '00s. Tried out a lot of different things (Riveras, Buddas, Mesas, Peaveys, even some Fenders), settled mostly on Mesa Boogies, but lately have been really feeling the Marshall vibe again. I got a little DSL-1 a while back as a practice amp and honestly I play it more than my Mark 5 at this point. Got me to thinking of maybe getting one of them JCM 800 Studios.

DSLs are great amps just wish it was made a bit better and lasted longer without issues.

Industrial Metal. You can say that they're the Daddies of bands like White Zombie (and Rob Z, of course), My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, etc... Some side projects include Revolting Cocks, 1000 Homo Djs and a few more. Not to mention being one of the main influences that shaped the musical stylings of our good buddy Trent Reznor and NIN.

Yes, at the very beginning when they got signed by WaxTrax. Didn't last long, though before they took the dive into the industrial stream. Pretty much in line with bands such as Front 242, Skinny Puppy (fellow canucks) and the likes of them.

Yep lol found that it IS a Valvestate essentially, AFTER i bought one
It's a good metal amp with 350 watts SS power amp. It has one tube or two inside.
It has built in effects, and and optional foot controller.

On the other hand it has cheap flimsy pots which break really easily...
It has very heavy metal knobs on the pots, which encourage the pots to wear out or break, just from the weight of the knobs.

So being a good sounding loud amp...
you have to be very careful not to break the pots. Very fragile.
If they had used better pots, it probably would have been more long lasting and more reliable.

But I do like the sound of it. Pretty killer grind / very loud.
Takes some effort to repair and replace the broken controls....

Definitely a loud amp, especially if you put it into either its single 8ohm load or its 2 cabinet 16 ohm configuration. Both by its instructions give it the full 350w, else its reduced to a still very loud 235w output. Its got a very beautiful internal digital reverb that is nicer than many pedals, as well as the 6dB Solo boost that pushes it even harder. The Amp 2 Tone Matrix is kind of neat option as well, leaving the Bass/Mid/Treble controls intact while shaping the Mids overall sound.

But the Amp 2 can become a muddy mess if you dont sit down and properly dial it in. Probably the most gain Marshall has ever made in one amp in that particular section but it can quickly become an awful sounding disaster if you dont work with it and adjust things properly. Seems as if Amp 1 is a much more stable section and more traditionally Marshall voiced while still being pretty hi gained.

Its been a good amp overall, not happy with its initial price and now its almost laughable resell value however lol
