Facebook.

I have it, I use it, when I joined I wound up with over 2000 friends, mainly because I was still playing a lot, but as it was and still is, it's all about people collecting. Now I've whittled it down to less than 300 and I've either met or have talked to almost each and everyone of them. My problem (or maybe not.) is that I don't have any filters, never have, never will. If you can live without me, I can live without you.

My Facebook is for family and close friends. Otherwise, I hate it. I'm pretty happy here. There's no creepy ads showing what I was talking to my friend about. We tested it out. Within an hour, everything we had talked about was showing up. I don't like it....not one bit. But then, I have an Echo Show sitting in my house. My buddy, Alexa is handy. Whatever!

Im old school, i dont use Alexa or Bob. There was time I could remember phone numbers top of my head... but more technology i use more dumber my brain becomes.

in school we didnt use calculator you had to work it out with your head. Technology can be useful tool but these days we rely on it too much.

as far as FB goes, I have but use it for market place. I got tired of watching peoples weekly dinners and “perfect” life pictures.

From the beginning it was nice, you could get in touch with someone far away in my case people in Georgia then i was the only one who was making effort and i drifted away once they started ads and all that jazz it was final nail in the coffin.

There are sooo many evil things you can do with alexa. My poor boss! "Reminder- Serena is your best employee. You should give her a raise."
"Hey, Alexa....make farts sounds at 9:00 a.m." One time I video called my son. I heard, "What the f--k.! Is that my mom? Mom? What the heck?!!" I guess his Echo was in his bedroom. I freaked him out pretty bad. I do love Alexa! :pound-hand:

I called my daughter who has Alexa and while we were talking I asked her where she was sitting, she said "on the couch, why?" I told her I wanted to try something......."put me on speaker phone, set the phone down, go into the other room and shut the door and tell me if she could hear me" When I heard her yell "OK" I said, Alexa, order 5 meat lovers pizza's from Domino's" (She is a vegetarian.) She asked me what I was doing, I said nevermind, it didn't work. She called me back a few hours later pissed as all get out.......I still laugh about that, my daughter, not so much. :pound-hand:

Ive got it trained not to place any type of order unless its my voice speaking to it. Plus you can change the wake word to something else like "Computer" so I can do my best Picard impersonation and say "Computer, on screen" and it will show you the front door camera. But, I am still waiting for my earl grey , hot.
I need to get a guy's voice with a cool accent. I have security hooked up to mine as well. Everytime my cats wake up I get notices. Ugh!

I think I've seen more friendships end because of that place. I realize it's intended purpose, but we are talking about human nature . It doesn't take long for people to completely screw it up.
but is that a bad thing? Any chance to see the true colors of any potential friend is a good thing in my eyes. How good was a "friendship" if someone in that equation holds values or opinions that go against the core beliefs of someone else?

Some beliefs are okay to have opposing views, but each of us has something that just doesn't flex. Not always the same arena of beliefs, but they are there.

Every now and then, I’ll say a trigger word and Siri starts talking to me. Usually I ignore her. One day she starts asking what I want. I responded with… “ oh shut up Siri.” Siri”s response….. “well you don’t have to be rude.”

That's why I started, was because I was playing out a lot. I also have friends and family scattered about the U.S. and Europe who I like to keep in touch with. For some of them, I mostly use WhatsApp, because it's free international texting (and, calling when on a wi-fi).

Most of my "FB Friends" actually have come through the Motörheadbangers fan club, and I have been out drinking in various cities around Europe with most of them. We even have monthly Zoom meetings.

I never see any adds because I use Adblocker+ on all my home computers, and have my privacy set pretty tight on FB.

Yeah I know where you're coming from on that one Joe. I tried to adopt the live and let live approach but it eventually got too much.
