Hi - I'm considering replacing the bridge humbucker in my Epi Explorer with a DMT Lights Out. It mentions that it is F spaced. What does that mean?

It's the center to center spacing distance between the 2 E strings.
F spacing = Fender...
Usually "F" bridge or "F" neck (the spaces are different since the stings fan out from the nut)
G spacing = Gibson bridge or neck.
Actual distance measurement not specified by DMT.

Typically, Gibson's use a 52mm bridge with a 50mm neck pole piece spacing. F spacing (F is for Fender) is about 53mm.

Shown is my 53mm Custom DiMarzio Neanderthal on a 52.5mm Fender bridge.

Quite a few tune-o-matic bridges - especially replacements like TonePros and Gotoh - use the wider spacing. For example TOM Schecters are generally the wide spacing, and use TonePros from the factory.

When I upgraded my Epi Explorer to a TonePros all of a sudden my 50mm Bare Knuckle Nailbomb didn't line up with the strings.

Personally I would get the wider pickup and upgrade the bridge to a Gotoh, but I'm no purist ...

When in doubt, measure!!!
