Explorer rewire

Steve Optiz at Ghostrider Guitars rewired my Explorer recently. Changed it from '50s style wiring with 3-way toggle/Vol/Vol with a series/parallel switch for the neck pickup to modern style wiring with 3-way toggle/Vol/Tone with a coil split switch for the neck pickup. Used components already in the guitar with a full rewire and the addition of a treble bleed. Good to have a tone pot again and I don't miss having separate volume controls for neck and bridge. The Schecter has a similar arrangement except it has a 3-way blade switch instead of a toggle and an extra switch to coil split the bridge pickup if desired. And yes that is a metal pickguard from Snakebite Customs in Germany.

The toggle for the coil split on the pickguard is a cheapy from Jaycar. The Switchcraft 3-way is now in the old neck volume position and it has a master volume for both pickups. I'm not sure of the specs on the capacitor except for the fact that it is 0.022uF and poly. I had it laying around. The pots are CTS Mojo Tone ones tested as 550K. It has a Switchcraft jack. All the wiring is new

personally I like the mental turmoil the decals-- and death metal creates VS the lovely floral chair pattern -- its calming yet spooky like Hannibal Lecter at a dinner party :)
ROCK THE FOOK ON BROTHER DAVE -- and use a drop cloth to not get any stains on the furnishings -- -those brain saws do splatter something fierce --- er uhm Ive heard....yes....HEARD --

Reminds me of this restaurant in my neighborhood. Part of it literally used to be Black Flags rehearsal space, and they kept some of the vibe going:

But you go in there and they are playing Michael Jackson and Journey and other similar shiite. When we go in we ask for them to put punk on, and they do, and then some or another fool (probably from Manhattan Beach) complains and they go back to crap.

Anyway, the place is in Hermosa Beach, just down the street from us a couple blocks . Hermosa has a very proud punk heritage for those that don't know: It's the birthplace of Black Flag, Descendents, Pennywise, Circle Jerks, Jim Lindberg, 98 Mute, Too Rude, Humble Gods, 1208, and more.
