evidence: a speaker change changes tone

Swapped the stock Marsland 12” in my 1974 Traynor for a Celestion Vintage 30. In a very non scientific comparison, there sure seemed to be a difference. Probably mostly to do with OEM speaker being about 40 years old. Magnet in the Celestion about 4x heavier. New speaker does sound sweet, but the biggest change.... at least to my untrained ears. The new speaker by virtue of being more efficient. Natural speaker breakup doesn’t happen till I really started cranking things. Think turning everything to 11.

Last night, I plugged in my DSL40C. You can't beat it for raw AC/DC tone, but my 100watt Blackstar is just so much more versatile. I never thought I would feel that way about a solid state amp.
