For sure, Smitty. In my life I have seen a ton of dying, friends and family. In light of how music has been like a sibling to me, I seem to feel a loss of someone like Ed, or Neil Peart etc as if I had lost biological family.

Admittedly, I've only listened to a handful of VH songs. I just couldn't get past DLR'S voice. I felt like EVH was a monster talent, but he never "moved" me like Gary Moore or Randy Rhoads...Nonetheless, he was an incredible musician and showman...

Throat Cancer was the cause...FVCK CANCER! I am very sad, he was only 5 years older than me and his music brought something new and innovative to Rock!

Who will ever forget the first time they heard Eruption??? I'm in shock...

But...some of you really didn't see this coming? He'd had throat cancer for quite some time now, had surgery for it, and kept on smoking. Wish I could say I'm surprised but honestly not at all.
