ever seen one of these?

Funnily enough, or not, I have been looking at the goldtop version of the 55 here in Korea, but at $700 it seemsexpensive. The 33 is about $450 which also seems steep as I thought these were sold off pretty cheaply a few years back. The original rrp was over $1500.

Would a Normal p90 fit in them?

Generally, Dear OP, how would you rate this against an SG standard?

I would rate it equal in build quality--- lighter faster and IMHO better-- I dont think a standard Soap bar will fit--- but I will check---
the pickups are stellar--- and personally I wouldnt change them--- didnt change them in my Virage either--- 70% of the reason behind buying the guitar for me was teh uniqueness of the pups and electronics.
Access to the top frets is better than any guitar I have ever owned. ---if that is an important feature for you.

Funny you should think that way. When these new era Vox's came out, I thought they were an excellent value compared to whatever else was offered at the time. Now that they have lost a lot of resale value, it could influence the way you look at the same guitar.

I will ask the local shop to get one in so I can try it back to back with my SG through their ac30.

:D

The only issue, in theory, I have with it is due to the humidity changes where I am, a stiff maple neck with easy truss rod access is preferable, but not a deal breaker.

I shouldve bought that tele in Bkk. :(

To be honest, and I love SGs, but my Cort is a better guitar (except for the neck puppies) for around $200 less. Its just so fugly.

I am looking forward to seeing how the VOX looks in person. Esg has painted a very good picture.

They are top notch in build quality -- would "I" pay 700.?? well no--- I wont pay that for a single guitar but that's just me...I paid 200.00 and for such it is an AMAZING deal and a STELLAR quality guitar.
I see them going for almost that much though--- I also know my VOX Virage (WHich I trade a Gibson SG for) --a 500.00 trade--- going for over 1k here in the U.S. --- I was skeptical the build quality of the 33 would be on par with the Virage-------but it is as good .
