When Adrian first got it, the Jackson really caught me eye, I guess because I respect the straight-pull of the classic Fender headstock and the absence of sharkfins also appealed to me. I had played one locally and was impressed.
To be honest, the setup, intonation and functionality of the USA and import Jackson's have impressed me for years.
Lately, I've been doing more tremolo work, using my 1987 Squire with vintage tremolo and the return to pitch is very, very good....but I thought perhaps a locking trem might give added insurance on coming back to pitch playing live.
Adrian really critiqued the Jackson. He sent me picks of how the strings align across the neck, his observations on pickup tone, how the controls work and, most importantly, intonation accuracy and tuning stability.
Now, to his credit, everything Esge told me about the Chinese Fibson he gave me was 100% accurate. His description of the neck angle,book match, neck shape, feel was all accurate, so I trusted his opinion when he said, "You would love this Jackson..."

Reminds me of a tale of woe from the past:
In my early 20's i met this really hot older woman - recently divorced and out whoring it up -her words.
Well, I had been partying a while that night; a mix of alcohol and whatever else, too much in any case.
The soldier in my command was given the order to move out, but would not stand at attention.
A sad, sad tale my friends; every now and then I wonder what could have been....

I just happened to be wandering around my local music chain this afternoon waiting for my son to finish his piano lesson and plugged in a used Jackson Adrian Smith model that was on the wall. Man, that is a great guitar! It played and sounded fantastic!

The Indonesian made Jackson's are a lot of guitar for the bucks. Out of the box mine was the best set up new guitar I've ever had. The only thing I've done to it in the time I've had it is to shim the FR's saddles to match the compound radius neck (locking nut already did). I would recommend them to anyone. Bahhhh, they were dusty when I dropped them off there. I have room for 2 more and more room in the works soon. How about the ES-339 and bass. I can stop by after work to pick'em up.
