Tracii Guns says Eric Clapton is overrated: “You’re gonna put Clapton with Jeff Beck? In what reality?” — Guitar.com
“Clapton ain’t the guy, man, Beck’s the guy.”
Is that Dumble yours? Super cool rig.I learned a lot from Eric he was friends with my father, started with best of Cream.
Don't have a clue who Tracii Guns is. I have seen Jeff Beck in concert 3 times.

MJ all day........ lol , def 2 dif era's for sure.I dunno..... I think comparing guitar players.... in the case Clapton and Beck is like comparing best sports figures like Jordon vs James. Clapton and Beck both play guitar. Both are very good. They accomplish the same thing in different ways. Same for Jordon and James. Both throw this ball thru a hoop and make (made) lots of points. Both did it in different ways. To say someone is better or worse than the other is highly subjective and depends on who you ask.
As always. My opinion..... your results may vary.![]()
I will say about EC. He's gotten old and crotchety. He's starting to say and do things that just strikes me wrong. I try hard not pass judgment because I always go back to something my mom said as she was moving thru her 60s. Said "she'd held her tongue all her life and I'm too old now to care what people think!" I think as we all age, to a point the filter we'd relied on forever..... just doesn't work as efficiently any more.I thought Clapton was the most innovative player until I realized all the songs I like are covers. Without Willie Dixon and company, Clapton wouldn't have had a career.
They are pretty good covers, tho.
Alcohol also removes the filter between what people thing and what they say. Clapton said a few really problematic things and then tried to blame it on the bottle. Sorry but it don't work that way. There are times when it's better to just shut up and play yer guitar.I will say about EC. He's gotten old and crotchety. He's starting to say and do things that just strikes me wrong. And that’s the truth.Interviewer: Is there anything that you can do that Jeff can't?
EC: He has such great technique...it's like multi-tasking. I can't do that.
Interviewer: Jeff, is the anything Eric can do that you can't?
JB: No.
You just don't like them because they play STRATS!!!!2 of my least favorite players.
EC I just don't like and never understood why he's so revered. Cream days were ok, but that's about it for me. JB gets my respect and even though I don't care much for his playing style there's no doubt the man could play.
I was not interested in Strat because everyone I knew played one and I have to be different. Enter G400. When I did finally break down and buy one…. Unboxed it….. plugged it in and played a chord, I was like what took me so long. This time it has absolutely nothing to do with it, believe it or not, both those guys didn't always play Strats.
You know...I really don't hate Strats, I just don't like playing them, I wish I did and I've tried, but they aren't comfortable for me to hold. I see guys, like Rory Gallagher for example, with their beat up Strats and I drool over them, I just wish I liked to play them.![]()
