I work in a print shop. This is bindery equipment.

The boxes are in front of a collator (on the left) which feeds a booklet maker (fold/stitch/face trim) which drops the finished piece on the wooden receiver behind the boxes.

Was going to retire in April, but my insurance covers the old lady who isn't, um, old enough for Medicare.

Was going to get insurance for her through the ACA with a subsidy (Social Security), but now that might be going away. I'll have to work an extra year and I'm not happy.

I lift things.

That's a real nice guitar. The simplicity of just one pickup on the guitar gives you more picking room and less time messing around with the controls. Congrats!

Paul, Have you had time to play the guitar
Flip us the Bird, Dammitt!!

Man that is nice. Congrats, hope it is the Tops!
I dig the Firebird and single pickups, but my Firebird Fantasy is more of the Allen Collins / Johnny Winter variety, so that not happening.

Paul, Have you had time to play the guitar

Nope. I'm at work. Came in this morning. I will remove guitar from outer box to get it home.

Once home, I'll open in as it will have been indoors or in a heated car for 7 hours.

Will give a report tomorrow once it's tweaked and put through its paces.

I agree with the acclimation; some dont think it matters. I have seen guns and tools sweat soaking wet and dont want all that condensate on or in my guitars.

I'm not nuts about it, but I'd feel bad if I did something to a new guitar on the first day.

Plenty of time to bang, scratch, stretch, and abuse it later because I have to.

No pics yet, but first impressions.

First the bad: Although it weighs 7lb 6oz (average for a 'bird) the big neck and banjo tuners make it feel heavier and clunkier than my Firebird V.

The banjo tuners are still as crappy as I remember. They do hold tune very well but are sloppy and rough.

Now the good: Big round neck feels awesome. Fills your hand but isn't a log. Silky-smooth fretboard, perfect fretwork -- polished and crowned as well as any custom shop instrument.

Came perfectly set up, don't know if it was Sweetwater or Epiphone but guitar plays perfectly, smooth, fast as slick.

Now the very good: The pickup on this guitar is unbelievable!! I have some custom pickups on my V, but this one is fatter, deeper whille still popping and stinging like a 'bird should.

I'm keeping it. Will be putting lighter gauge strings and shimming the pickup to follow the string angle.

Pics and maybe sound samples to come.

Good to hear some single pickup love over here. I'm in shock the amount of people that dismiss this because of the 1 pickup, the price, & the fact that it's an Epi. Good lord on all 3 counts.

Can't wait to see more of this.
