ELECTRIC TRUCK!? BLASPHEMY!

it seems "nice" like one of them Honda "trucks" ---SUV you can put some dirt in.

THey dont mention (Or I didn't hear) important things like towing capacity, where do you find an charging station / plug "out in the wilderness" etc.

ITs a neat toy for the Millenial "urban outdoorsmen" type -- apartment dwelling Starbucks swilling---man bun and full beard wearing -- Kayaks at the state park on sunny Sundays type----

your not moving a house full of furniture -- hauling 3 tons of concrete pavers or a large round bail of hay--or doing any REAL TRUCK STUFF with that thing
\ I do like the 4 engines 1 per wheel idea that has SERIOUS off road merrit---- and good luck getting them serviced-- or repaired-- or replaced---- or...fixed on the side of the dirt road in bear country when they have a gliche or hiccup-- ..............oh never mind

but its nice---- :)

When these battery powered trucks get sorted out and have double the torque of your F150s then you'll start liking them!

One nice thing about living in Oman, a few years back, were all the huge Ford and Chevvy pickups everywhere because the roads were big, pretty empty and fuel was extremely cheap. Even a small-car-minded London lad like meself was longing for a V8 truck!

no, no I wont...... because I will still have to wait a day to charge the dumb thing and I will be creating more harmfull off gassing and global warming through increased coal power plant production and killing more bears and squids and umpah lumpas than my F150 ever thought of ...so no.....

there isnt even a GUN RACK in that electrical thing

"sorted out" yes -- well by the time they get that done Ill be long dead and wont care--- ask a Tesla owner -- ask how many issues they have ask how the gliches and electrical gremlins work out---

I can give you stories but I will refrain---as I need to go now and get in my F150 and go get 5 full sized 4x8 sheets of ply wood for a barn repair--- where do you put those in the electric TRUCK thing?/ eh?
they wont fit --- oh.
Truck= for WORKING

SUV with a hole in it -- for PLAYING

It has potential -- but

its too "nice" ------

THe SUV is nice and I agree Grump in tiem they will probably take over the world (electric cars/trucks/trains/busses---transport) but -- for the time its nto practicle.
I can buyt a FLEET of F150's that will last me to my dtying day for what one of them Rivians run...

and again back to repairs-- costs--- break downs-- (things break on any vehicle) but I can find parts for an F150 within a few miles or so of where ever i am in the U.S. -- cant do that with a Rivian.

I actually LIKE the look reminds me of an OLD International Harvester
1973-international-harvester-wagonmaster-front-three-quarter

JUst not for me though -- -but I am sure many will love them ---

The white truck in the pic above has 220,000 miles on it and still going strong......I dont see a need to change anytime soon

It will be years down the road, before they ever get electrics right. The costs are a killer all the way around. They have loads of those what I call stupid cars, sitting on used car lots for sale, why? the initial price here in Canada around $40,000 what do you get a trunk space you can fit in a bag of groceries. Run up your hydro bill charging that thing up. Just watched not long ago on chevy volt they don't like the cold weather, battery charge drops off. Yea that's what I want a vehicle you can drive 250kms than have to pay to have it charged, while I wait for 15hrs, oh I will just book a hotel room for the night while its charging. I think you can buy something to reduce the charging to 4 hrs. Oh yes then when the battery needs replacing in some vehicles about $5,000 for a new one, then have to pay disposing fees to get rid of it. Then in cases the battery compartment in the vehicle rots out do to corrosion from acid, just like battery boxes on a golf cart. If you want to have on going repair costs buy an electric vehicle.

I think internal combustion gas powered vehicles will still be around until I die or at least until I can't drive anymore.

Gas isn't going away any time soon. and batteries cause just as many harmful pollutants as burning fossil fuel. I know
because I've been dealing with battery technology my entire life in the electronic communications industry!

^ Germany has just built a massive gas pipeline into Europe from Russia, so they are banking on natural gas. Plus, with fracking in the US, there's lots of gas/oil in the US which obviously has a major say on what goes on aboard Planet earth.

Writing is on the wall folks, the big boys (Benz, GM, etc) are going all-in on electric. There will be vestigial gas-powered vehicles for the forseeable future but all 'everyday' drivers are going to be electric within a decade. My prediction.

HELL MAN I'll still be driving that FORD F150 in a Decade-----

A decade? really -- Ill take that bet-- lets put your Mesa on it--- ;)

The Metric System hasnt "taken off" here and neither will electric cars--- not for at least 1-3 GENERATIONS

way to many Politicos and TOP $$$ corporations (and board members and CEO's) make waaaaaaaaaay waay WAY to much $$$$$ of fossil fuels and the things that run them ---gas stations-- circle K's support industries refineries---to EVER allow that to happen---

it just wont-- and yes the batteries--- the storage and disposal of said batteries is as worse OR WORSE than the pollutants from fuel---HELL lok at the regulations on just disposing of COMPUTER batteries----

its a nice thought-- and an interesting "im green I drive a VOLT" "mantra" --- but in reality--- just -- not for a long time

Technology moves much faster than it did when we were younger. A decade ago you probably couldn't have predicted the near universal adoption of smartphones, 20 years ago the near full integration of the Internet into almost every facet of our lives. This is the future (and in very real terms the future is dependent on it - when the current, er..."situation" in Washington is resolved its going to be Millenials setting policy, not the Boomers and not us) and us old luddites that still thing there is some kind of charm in the internal combustion engine are going to be left outside looking in.

I agree it does move fast -- a decade ago was like yesterday---

a decade isnt that long man ---

charm -- for infernal combustion---no--- its sucks and blows (lol)

its $$$$$$$$$ its ALL about the $$$$$
do you really think Exxon -- SHell_- BP and all the people working there and making MILLIONS a year off that stuff that runs infernal combustion will just STOP collecting ALL THAT MONEY in 10 years???? Really ?? That Auto Zones will just close-- that oil filter mfct.s will just go quietly into that Green wonder world of battery hum-----spark plugs-- and "O" rings and all the STUFF that makes that engine work...all those jobs-- machining parts -- pistons and frames--....all just gonna lay down and roll over --- in a decade?

Circle K is building new stores all the time -- they are making Financial predictions and growth/spend markers INTO the next decade I assure you---

GREED drives the planet ---- and the dinosaur juice clan has a HUGE strangle hold on that ....HUGE--- they are running Governments pulling strings--- delaying research for electrical tech-- buying it and destroying it---- your not gonna move them out in a decade--sorry and Millenials in positions of power can be bribed and greedy just like the Boomers and the and the rest--- greed is not going away.

You would have a better chance of getting rid of the Steel Workers Union--- or the Mafia--- (sorry same thing)

I get your mesa if your wrong ;)

Im gonna clear spot now cause ten years goes fast I dont wanna miss it :)

It always starts with the trickle-down...

James Bond will return… in an electric Aston Martin

Why Porsche's best-seller is going electric-only

And there are many more where those came from.

Point is, electric is going to be mandated in Western countries that are more progressive than ours, and more importantly, in China. That will have ripple effects throughout the World. We like to think of ourselves in the US as leaders but that is sadly all in the past (for chrissakes we can't even manage universal healthcare in the US!), and while certain elements will go kicking and screaming into the future, the economics of it will invariably shift. Since the rest of the advanced World seems to be taking climate change pretty seriously while we dig our heads deeper into the sand, I believe this is just one more area where we will be late to the party as a nation, but the automakers are already betting on electric - hell, GM is closing plants already as part of a larger global plan to covert to all-electric.

whats the dimensions on that MEsa???? ;)

yes the Chinese.......building more infernal combustion than the U.S. --- they are on board for electric ;)

In 2018, approximately 23.5 million passenger cars and 4.3 million commercial vehicles had been produced in China. With a production volume China ranked first.

Vs 17 million in the US

HEll gball we will still be arguing about this in a decade----

just send me the Mesa now and SAVE $$$ on freight because IT WILL BE HIGHER in a decade :)
