El cheapo silver stripe Peavey Rage

Got this amp in a trade today. Volume pot seems a little iffy, otherwise good. Traded a Randall RX25M practice amp that I bought a year ago for $35. That was officially more powerful and had a spring reverb but this is all I need for a practice amp and it has a CD input jack that I will be able to plug my iPod or my Korg metronome into. And I got it much cheaper than it is usually advertised for on Gumtree or in Cash Converters. Check out the condition of this amp compared to these piles of crap I took photos of yesterday in Cashies.

Actually that silver stripe at Cashies is not very good condition - someone has replaced the original knobs with knobs from a teal stripe Peavey

I have never heard of the Rages. Looks pretty nice.
I did manage to pick up an Envoy 110 for $10 once. For making sounds, it does the job.
My one and only Peavey after dumping my Delta Blues to pay some bills. Having gotten it for free, the cash I got for it was a good deal all around.

I really don't know anything about Randall amps, but I had my curiosity piqued one day when a guy came in to a Music Go round to trade in his Roland amp. I seem to remember overhearing this particular one was desirable.

I am thinking it was a 2x12. But the 4x12 Jazz Chorus looks very nice too.

Hope you like your new Rage, DD.

The Peavey transtube amps are very decent amps. A friend of mine used to run a bar jam and he had three Peavey transtube amps, I think a couple of Envoys and a Bandit, for the backline. Great little amps, fairly light to load in and out, instant on, and decent tone.

I had a Blazer 158, which is a Rage with reverb.
I used it on smaller church jobs for about 4 years.
(...and yes, you can cram a 10" speaker in there.)

Tony, I am sure the 4x12 Roland surely would weigh a bunch since it is an amp plus a set of 4 speakers. I am fairly confident the amp I saw was a 2x12.

Does anyone own any of the 2x12 versions or has owned one and can post reviews?
Thanks.

Tony, I have a nice Ted Weber 10 inch speaker or a pair of Fender Special Design 10's I had in my Princeton Chorus I thought about swapping into my Peavey Envoy 110 just for kicks n giggles. I already swapped in a pair of these Webers into the Princeton Chorus which definitely made a difference in sound, not to mention heavier weight over how it was with the original Special Designs.

Iffy volume pot (original post), try Deoxit in the back of the pot (if there's an opening) or on the front. Work it back and forth. It cleans out pors and makes them work better. GC carries Deoxit.

Here I went n hijacked DD's thread a bit, I got curious about the Roland JC120 so I you tubed it and found a few nice clips.
Sorry for the hijack, Dave.

I think I will make a dedicated thread to the JC120.

I don't know where he found a US made red stripe Rage. I guess they only sold them in the USA. My silver stripe Rage says Made in China near the transformer. I am guessing that the difference between those two amps is the speaker.

I'm actually getting rid of another amp tomorrow, a Trace Elliot Super Tramp combo

Swapping it for a mint condition Boss DD-20 Gigadelay

I haven't been using the combo; in fact it has been loaned to the son of a friend for the last six weeks. Apparently he hasn't used it much either, preferring his little Orange Crush
