Happy holiday wishes to all you TTR types!

I mentioned in another thread, that I have been getting rid of gear and guitars that I’m not using on a regular basis. I have pared down to (only!) eight guitars now.

For those that aren’t familiar, Eastman instruments are hand made in China by luthiers who have been making stringed instruments for decades. They are known for hollow body type instruments like violins, cellos, etc and have only started making solid body guitars in the recent past. Their reputation is for very high quality instruments and excellent QC.

I d not wish to discuss politics, international trade or the philosophy of communist countries. I’m only here to show the new guitars that I have acquired and have found to be outstanding. A good instrument is a good instrument, regardless of the country of origin, IMHO.

I made the mistake of trying out an Eastman SB56n at a local guitar shop here in Whitby, Ontario. I fell in love with the look and the feel so much so, that I have since bought that one and another.

First up, is the Eastman SB56n. This is a gold top with Lollar P90s. The ‘n’ stands for nitro finish. All Eastmans have one piece necks, one piece backs and 2 piece maple tops. This has a satin finish that feels incredible. The neck has a ‘59 neck carve that is perfect for me.

All the hardware is aged Gotoh and it has a true ABR-1 type bridge screwed directly into the top. Ebony fingerboard, headstock veneer and an ebony truss rod cover. It has a mahogany neck and back, with maple top. Electronics is CTS pots, Orange drop caps and Switchcraft 3-way selector.

Next is the SB59. As the model name implies, this is a 1959 style with one piece mahogany back and neck and 2 piece flamed maple top. Ebony board with ebony headstock veneer and truss rod cover. Again, Gotoh hardware and all the right electrics but with Seymour Duncan 59s.

The back and headstock of the SB59:

It should be noted that the back is pristine. Any visible marks are only reflections due to my poor photography skills!
