Eagles - One Of These Nights - Felder's Incredible Tone:

Inspector #20

Ambassador of Tone
Fallen Star
Country flag
The version of the song we are doing:

Yes, he is playing a real Les Paul - but a key element to this tone is sheer VOLUME.

Felder's solo begins at 2:07

Walsh, the ultimate band team player. Felder, not so much. Poor soul did not realize he was a member of a dictatorship, not a democracy.

I enjoy being a team player...but, I have been in some downright depressing band dictatorships...

Songwriting is the ultimate equalizer. That is why Henly did not get pushed around.

And then there were McCartny and Lennon. Poor Harrison - he could write, but "all things must pass", and least when you run them by Lennon and McCartny. The band had to fold before those songs saw the light of day!

Yup, that's the trick. Great tone. Gotta crank it to get what you're looking for sometimes. We lost our jam room, and I can't get what I'm looking for in my small practice room.

Exactly!

I have a regular room in the new house. Most of my daily practice is unplugged!

Last night, I had a little time before my wife and kids came home. I sat in front of my DSL40C and rolled up about 1/2 volume...which is ungodly loud...but the tone was just to die for, Man.

I can't duplicate that at low volumes.

When I listen to Eagles tunes I get what Robert is saying, but I also can flat out hear Randy Meisner's sweet bass in the mix just laying down that rock solid groove with a certain je ne c'est quoi!!!
Here is an example from my now demolished former favorite concert venue.

Very nice! Randy was good on vocals too!

It's that Boogie Mark 1 sitting behind him that you hear. He's got some kind of boost, probably a fuzz, going too, but that's the sound of Mesa/Boogie.
