Vintage Dynacord Bassking 1, all tuebs (most of these amps are hybrid amps, except the oldest). 45W. It suffered from flashovers which i could finally locate in the PI stage between Anode and Grid of the catodyne stage. Tried to clean the socket with lots of Ethanol and replaced the tube by a probably even older from Telefunken, possibly the original tube from the 60s. This is the test run, and i hope the amp remains silent without that loud crackling noise. Keep fingers crossed...

Thats the amp - i made a copy of the wooden headshells available as extra option instead of the common plastic shells of those amps.

I thats successfull, i'll take it to the rehearsal room; its larger cousin (Eminent 2, also all tubes but probably slightly younger) is humming unhappily (cost of ownership of such oldies...)

BTW: here the amp:

I'currently running the amp without the tube in front of the PI stage. Let's see how long it'll remain silent. Must be for a few hours, i'd guess.

But i guess i might change two coupling caps. One of them will cause trouble because of the sizing demands. That's a real disadvantage of old printed circuits - you depend a lot more on the size and construction of the parts as You do in freely wired circuits. Which makes servicing sometimes difficult.

EDIT: it remained silent for more than 2 hours. So the first thing i have to do seems to be to change the copuling capacitor toward the PI. Although some doubts remain. But luckily i have found a cap with roughly suitable value (a bit too large, but blocking distortion shouldn't be an issue here) and exact size.

Rockin' all over the world (again): possibly two small problems: a defictive trim pot and a broken soldering spot at a tiny cap against HF oscillation. And reinstalled back the two aluminum stripes on the front (most important!). On Monday i'll bring it to the reheasal room; its bigger brother from the same time needs some mainenace, too.
