After 47 years on this pebble I can't believe the bank I have been dealing with for 20 odd years was foolish enough to give me a credit card.

In all seriousness, I have been wanting a low limit card for online purchases so I can finish building those damn guitars! I haven't worked on them in too many years!

Now with the card, I can set aside a bit of dough to order hardware and such each month-old and then just pay it off. I have no kids, I live cheaply and need to get back on the path of finishing my creative projects so I can start some new ones ( I ain't getting no younger).

After some confusion on my part I finally made my first eBay purchase just now.

It's really been bugging me so I figured if I go about this smart-like, I should have this done by spring!

I already have the 490's from Helena so they can go in there and save me some loot. Going to need tuners, pots and stuff though. Can't wait to put the finish on it. It's only been sanded to 120.

Holy crap! Are my eyes getting bad! I FINALLY got the bridge stud holes drilled properly. Took about 6 attempts(I lost count)! Drill, make wood plugs, rinse, repeat. But I finally got it!

I installed the frets THEN realized the neck had a back bow after sitting for 5 years. I got my aluminum square tubing straight edge and clamped it across the neck. Heated the neck with a heat gun so the finger board glue would soften. Unclamped it the next day.... YAY! A straight neck!

Grampa the farmer would be proud!FB_IMG_1542505081813.jpg FB_IMG_1542505076789.jpg

I am also doing some grain filling. Also looking into a prewired harness as I am a lousey solderer.

You should sand down a deep bevel on the lower horn for a better upper fret access. But overall I like the shape and it looks like it will turn out well when all is finished.

Hi folks! Update time. The wine idea would work in theory, If were rich!

Anyhoo, I found a good alternative-CANNED BEETS! Might take a couple of tins but it is getting darker.FB_IMG_1543887157972.jpg FB_IMG_1543887135092.jpg FB_IMG_1543887142763.jpg FB_IMG_1543887142763.jpg

This wood is THIRSTY! These photos are the 6th or so application still wet. I'm just going to keep going until I'm happy. I'm pretty stoked to finally see the grain pop the way I knew it would!
