DSL40C Tips:

And the Master or HOW DOES HE GET ALL THAT GEAR to do these videos. Johan Segeborn

How it equates, Robert is how you can hear various samples of Marshall tone and compare how your attempts bring you closer to the ones you like or dislike like a Benchmark

Interesting to see this wavelength comparison. I wonder how much that Reaper 55Hz is contributing to that signature???

We can’t tell by the iPad mic capture...the low frequencies are not accurately represented in those recordings that are created with the iPads internal microphone.
Everything below 150hz is filtered out heavily.

Very cool. I expect this will help me dial in a much richer tone than I have currently.

I’m sure your tone is devine already...
My point is...I can’t(and maybe you shouldn’t) judge your tone solely by the video recorded with the iPads on board mic.
It’s not a wholly accurate representation of the sound coming out of your amp.
The low frequencies are heavily rolled off.
A more accurate representation(to those of us not in the room with you) could be achieved by using an external microphone to capture the audio. One that would bypass apple's low frequency filter.

Further...
Yes you can manipulate the balance of the frequencies the iPad mic does capture through mic placement...but all you would really be doing is changing the relative levels of the frequencies that it responds to(roughly 200Hz to 20Khz).
You would not be adding anything around 55Hz to the actual recording.

Thanks Don. My son is coming down to get the PC stuff setup and I can't wait!

Gotcha! I'm enjoying this pursuit, although the Les Paul Studio really didn't give me what I was expecting.

Also, How it has bearing, Robert is listen to Pete's fuzzy ass tone when he demo's the 1972 Marshall and says the not bright channel 2 is useless unless jumpered. Then Listen to Johan playing a 1971. His tone is way different from basically the same amp. SO when I hear your recordings, I know you are trying to sound more like Johan and less like Pete. How can we get you there?

Exactly!!!! Dude, my bridge pickup position on the Doublneck hasn't hurt my tone like I thought it did and, TBTH, the Thro-Bak SLE-101's are light years ahead of the Gibson 490's

Here is another cool Jam I think might have some good tone Mr Robert might take a liking to.
Funny thing is I believe Molly's guitarists were using Peavey gear back then.
