Dream Ride

I had a 1976 HX GTS LE Monaro some years back... Would love that car back in my garage. It was my dream, and stupidly I let it go...

One word for you ...
REPLICA.
This is a very good idea & one I have thought about (& researched) a bit. I know that many of the "replica's" getting around are in looks only. If I did a replica I'd like to do it properly. As the A9X was a homologated car this isn't hard to do, & Harry Firth has published what he did to create the Bathurst spec cars so it is do able. Alex _SG, I can imagine you now regret selling a Limited Edition LX Coupe. Very nice cars. IIRC there was only 500 or so built, & there ain't too many of em left. Cheers

According to Wikipedia there were 580 of them built.
I was the third owner, and i bought it off a friends dad for $6900 back in about 1992, drove it for about 3 years, and decided I wanted a 4 wheel drive, sold it and bought a Land Cruiser...
The sad part is that the LE would be worth probably 10 times what I paid for it now, and it wasn't even completely original.
The original 308 blew up in the '80s, and my friends dad replaced it with a 350 Chev small block. It had Cragar Superlite wheels, a Saas steering wheel, Pioneer stereo system... A lot of stuff had been changed before I got it... And the Land Cruiser turned out to be a piece of Sh!t that I only kept for a year then flogged off cheap. :(
Unfortunately I'll never be able to afford another, so i guess I just gotta remember the good times I had in it...

At least you have the memories Alex, we live and learn. Late 70's I sold an XP falcon coupe (with 170 pursuit motor) to a friend dirt cheap because I was (& still am) a Holden guy, & I kick myself when I hear what they're worth now. Cheers

Basically --- I've got mine...........

She spoiled me for all others----- no GAS where --well GAS is concerned. ;)

THough if anyone is throwing out an old Moto Guzzi Le Mans ---- or Norton Commando--- let me know ;) --- sssshhhhhh

I know this looks like a Sons of Anarchy fanboy bike, (I actually disliked that show, even though I loved the bikes!) but it genuinely is my favourite Harley.
2017 Harley Davidson Dyna Low Rider S. (The SOA bikes were Dyna Sports, IIRC, a slightly different model.)

I'd like one of these in a vivid metallic blue with silver accent stripes, and with all the blacked out bits chromed like my own bike. I think it would be absolutely awesome! My current bike is only a 250cc, a Kawasaki VN250v Eliminator. I really like the headlight cowling on the HD, and bought one for my Kawasaki. It needs to be painted to match my bike, which will be done eventually.

I grew out of cars quite honestly....I have a nice 2006 Mustang GT and I'm almost ready to buy a 2016 Mustang GT, but I grew to hate the old classic cars...just required far too much of my time nd money....

I have a set of Whitworth (BSW) spanners and sockets that were essential 40 years ago when I rode BSAs and Enfields, but I don't think they've been out of their leather pouches since I did the last timing adjustment on my 650 BSA twin. Jimmy Carter was president. A few of my old bikee mates still remember those bikes and the tools. A couple of hours ago, when a guy who looked like he had ridden across the Mojave desert in a rain storm came sputtering into my driveway on a 1955 Matchless 500 twin, I had a pretty good idea what he wanted. I let him borrow 'em, he got it sorted, but I turned down his offer to buy the whole lot. Is it weird to be sentimental over a tool kit? I gave him a source in the SF Bay area for such nostalgica.

Dad had a "Famous James" bike back in the 1970's...

c. 1946 125 cc ML model. Repackage of machine dropped in massive numbers behind axis lines in wwII. About 3 1/2 hp, 175 lbs wet weight, 41 mph top speed, 0-30mph in 12.5 seconds, alleged to get 100mpg (Imp.) Civilian model lacks cool horn.

c.1915 4 1/2 hp 600cc, this one from Belgium is essentially un-restored and appears to be a military issue.

My dad was born in Switzerland, and when he was a teen and got his license, he had a friend whose parents were very wealthy, and they had 3 x 300SL Gullwing Mercs. (One each for the parents, and one for their son, my dad's friend).
My dad was allowed to occasionally drive one, and to this day he still loves them.
He's retired now, but doesn't have the cash to be able to buy one.
