Door Fans??

I don't think it's ever come up but I'm a pretty long time Doors fan. Moreso back in the '90s, but I've been revisiting them lately and it's been pretty fun getting some of their material back. There was no internet last I was really into them so now the pickings are seemingly endless, although at times quite expensive. I love having access to the rarities now that otherwise would never have materialize years ago in a word of mouth (at best) type acquisition market.

Here is a 6 CD boxset that was release in 2009 (I believe it was) by Rhino Records as a limited edition. It's long since been sold out and only a handful are available here and there on the internet. I got this from Discogs, sealed. Supposed to be their best sounding live shows from a performance and sound quality perspective. It's technically 4 shows between the 17th and 18th of January, 1970. It sounds fantastic. I just had to sniff out a matching ticket stub from the actual show(s) to purchase for this little ..kit. The ticket is for the second show on the 18th at 10:00PM. This was the best of the shows IMO with some real "Jim" moments, shall we say..

As you can see, ticket prices were pretty steep back then.

Anyone here I can kiss up to that actually got to see these guys in concert back in the day??

Saw Krieger a few years ago at an Experince Hendrix show, glad I got to see him. But conisdering I was 14 in 82 when I went to my first "concert" not me.

Yea, Morrison was just gifted as much as he was messed up. Kinda like those "genius" symptoms. Of the best front-men ever and what made it so miraculous is that he would never even try to be that. It just happened.

Funny, that's when I was really into them as well. A friend of mine turned me onto them then the movie was just genius. Val knocked it out of the park.

Great tune. Crystal Ship always did it for me. So many good tunes though from them.

Sweet. I'm two years behind you and my first concert was Def Leppard/Krokus on the Pyromania tour in '83. I've never caught any of the three other members before and the way it's looking I suppose I won't. Would be cool to meet them - we could talk about Jim as I'm sure they are used to it. Lol

Everyone knows the usual Doors tunes. Not so much Hyacinth House. Oddly for me…. Only Doors tune I tried to learn on guitar. Probably have a chord chart somewhere in my mess. And I’m sure I printed it on a Dot Matrix printer. Might have to go looking for that sheet music.

One thing I liked about Doors music is that Morrison sings in my range. I can actually sing along with.

Yea, for the most-part he's fairly low in pitch. It's his near-constant yelling that's always on pitch that's hard to copy. I think Jim could yell properly (with vocal technique ..for the lack of better words), and that is why he could continue to do it over and over again and never hurt his voice.
