DOES THIS

We used to have an African Grey we rescued (she now lives in NJ with an ex coworker of mine) she is Bi-lingual--- speaks both English and Spanish.......fluently .
Amazing birds.
I need to get a sound clip of our Amazon....Clancy...... he rambles on all day ---- funny stuff too, he can carry on a conversation with you better than most teenagers...

African Greys are the best talkers. I had a Senegal that did nothing. Rotten attitude. But he lived a great life after we came to the understanding that we would leave him alone.

All of ours---as is most everything around here--- are cast offs.....Lucys previous owner complained she was SOOOO loud and the squaking was more than they could take.........she is a very quiet bird (I have owned LOUD birds) ---- they closed her off in a room by herself with no interaction----- and couldnt figure out WHY SHE IS SQUAWKING??????----well--- they gave her to us to "rehabilitate" took all of 2 seconds---- we just moved her cage into the living room and INCLUDE her in our lives----and she is a happy camper.

OK here is kind of a long but funny bird and dog true story.
In Fl. I had the grey named Wingnut, an amazon named Fred, and a basset hound named Jake. The bird cage was on the back porch next to the kitchen dinning area.
Every evening at sunset the parrots would do their evening squawking, and Jake would get underneath the cage and howl with them. EVERY night.
One Sunday evening I have friends over and we are eating dinner. The door to the porch is open (sliding glass) and the window is also open.
As we are sitting their talking and eating there is a moment of silence. We ALL had food in our mouths, and all of a sudden we hear . . . "Damit Jake Shut Up".
Everyone looks at me. My mouth still chewing my food and they bust out laughing. They said that the grey named Wingnut, sounded exactly like me but without my stutter.
Through out the evening Wingnut continued to amuse my friend with her impersonation of me.

They are amazing talkers..........the first night we Had Eagle Heart home with us (our African Grey) mys son and I where watching three stooges........Curly tripped over a table or something and fell down ........the bird said poop! ............we rewound the video and did it several times........it was a riot.
She also would torture our dogs by mimicking my voice and saying "o.k. lets go for a walk".........dogs run to the door all excited.........every time...

MOST recently when rescuing these 2 Amazons ......I was carrying the cage to the car--- the previous owner went on and on about how vicious the Male (Clancy) was .....so I was bing CAREFUL not to let my fingers get in the cage (no handle on the cage) ---- I am watching birds and trying to walk and see where I am going......as I go to place the cage in the back of the car it hits the roof....and then hits my face and I hear "you o.k.?" ------ from the BIRD !!!!!!

Anyone who thinks animals dont know WTF is going on ---- and that they are just dumb creatures----is a complete fool ---- they know ---- Birds in more a human way than dogs --cats-- etc. but they all ---- "know" and IMHO they know lots of stuff we dont, and never will.

And that is too!

Good stuff. Research has shown that African Greys not only have a big vocabulary but they are able to use words & phrases appropriately! So much more than simply 'parroting' a person.

What was the name of that famous Grey that lady did all that research on / with?
Just like your stories, that Grey was mind blowing!
I know one of you guys know who (who, like it's a person! lol) I'm talking about.

Alex was his name.

ANd yes they do as do other birds know and understand the phrasing and the "concept" of when to use it. Eagle Heart was bilingual--- We didnt know at first-- but her previous owner was Cuban. One day a friend was at the house and said a phrase in Spanish and the bird LIT UP! started carrying on in fluent Spanish!!!
Que Pasa Amigo and all sorts of phrases.....she is a very cool bird.

no-----you-----didnt-------I was going to post that------

YOu might wanna get checked out if your starting to think like me.........its a scary place.....

Aw, no it ain't. I don't think exactly like you...but I think enough like you to know the neighborhood.

It's only scary if there's no food!

The lighting is weird, though. It's like everything is illuminated with a black light...but you get used to it.

I think I have seen you lurking on the edges of the hood Smitty......you know "new guy" buys rounds for whole house ----all night---come on in when your ready ;)
