Yes, I have a meter but I've never used it before on a amp or guitar.

You really need to observe the tube in a very dark environment. Some preamp tubes have their glowing heating elements more encased than others, and become a little too tricky to see the glow of the heaters.

The new tube came in today. I installed it, put it back together and it works perfect. I got lucky.

It sounds pretty good. It's different than the 2 amps I play regularly. I like it though. No FX loop... Bummer.
