DIY pedal help (Ivan needs a break)

The one with the zipper is kinda...
Cool!
I also like the one with the zipper, neat. Actually, both of them are way better than any of my pedals. I either paint the enclosure a plain color, buy it already powder coated, or for my last, a BYOC 5 knob compressor (thanks Sysco), I just marked the controls with a fine black sharpie markers & gave it a couple of clear coats. Cheers

That’s more than I usually do to mine....I put a “Hulk” sticker on one...my muff-ish one.

HAHA I just read the title to this one. IVAN needs a break.

I can personally attest without even reading this thread. Ivan is one cool Aussie brother when it comes to helping someone learn electronics. He and DonP really did a good job helping me understand Tube amps and circuits and got me to fix my own Marshall and not blow myself or anything up.

It is very rewarding to help others into electronics. I know how much I appreciated someone taking the time to mentor me. I understand now why he did so. Cheers

It is a great vice isn't it. Gunna have to get me one of those. I agree RVA, stripboard projects are easier on the whole, but do present different challenges. Take care to avoid "whiskers" of solder that can unintentionally bridge tracks. Cheers

Thanks Ivan. After a few solders, I have been checking with a contiunity meter to ensure that there is no connection. This plan is loosing effectivness as I add components though.

I use a small 10 X magnifier to view each solder join. This is usually enough to let me see if all is good. Having a very fine tip on the soldering iron also helps. Cheers

I dont know how ya'll do it-------------

I SOLDERED today --- (Hi my name is Adrian and I am an ANTI-solder holic!)---
WTF are ya'll using to SEE this tiny shite?!?!?!

Well....

I make my own glasses....

Afrter I visit with an optometrist that I trust, and that listens to my extensive list of demands.

I need a diagnosis. No LED, but the pedal seems to work. Power on the board, power at the socket. Double checked connections, tried a second LED. LED flashes for a millisecond sometimes. Do not see any shorts on the board, which does not mean that they are not there, but then there IS power on the board. Checked the diode polarity and placement. Ay Yai Yai !!! Any help appreciated.
