Ive seen the Catalinbread pedals brought up a lot here and this one was referenced in another thread on seeking an Iommi sound. Really cool circuit mixture of the Rangemaster circuit and the preamp of a Laney Supergroup.

Plus the Volume is labeled Vol 4 !

I'm pretty sure you'll dig that pedal. It's definitely got more gain than a Fulldrive 2 and a bit more compressed sounding, in a good amplike way. I should've mentioned that one but the Fulldrive2 is my fav. Plus they're all so affordable for being such great boutique pedals.

I had this one about ten years ago.

I know a little more now about getting a good tone out of a single channel amp. So going to give it another shot.

I am, almost positive I'll pick up the Fulldrive as well. Seeing how I bid on three of them Lol.

We will see as the morning progresses.

I saw a video years ago, I think it was a Henning Pauly video where all the major amp builders were testing amps and consistently the cheaper and sometimes cheapest options were the favorite amongst the builders.

For example, they had all the hot amp designers including Dave Friedman in a room trying to dial in a competitor's amp to sound good. There were Friedmans and Revvs and LaBogas and all these other super high end ($3-6k+) high Gain amps, along with the Bluguitar Amp1 ($900). By the end they all agreed the best tone was from the $900 Amp1, which has a solid state power amp section. And those were the current legends of amp design almost all unanimously agreeing on that. Thomas Blug is a fricking genius, and I just learned while doing research on the H&K I bought that he actually designed these Tubemeister amps. Crazy how that works out. Plus he is a crazy good guitarist if you haven't seen him yet check him out.

I've also seen that happen several times with a blindfolded Chapman and Danish Pete (DP has a very discerning ear) as well in the pedal dept. Josh Scott is even up front about marketing and acknowledges that sometimes a great pedal will fail because it was too affordable which marketing geniuses have instilled in everyone's mind as cheap in a bad way... I now always listen with my ears and not my eyes or wallet.

There are many- recordings of that Blug amp.

Almost every one of them sounds great.

Can't argue against that!

I listen with eye and wallet which is bad... I know.. I see Mr whamets name on it looks cool has a cool name so it must be good.... then I searched it up on YT, I saw few clips and they all sounded like an ass, big hairy sweaty ass... I was like damn that sounds :poo:....

I have seen the clip you are talking about, it was cool to watch them dial tone and so on...

lots of people myself included listen with eyes and if the pedal has bad paint if it does not have exotic car paint it must be bad... ( I know I'm wrong ) but that how most people think..

people associate cheap with bad and that's the problem, lots of times cheap pedals sound really good and a lot better than expensive ones but because one of them is expensive it must be good..
people buy brands, not the product.
