In the CFL, the end zone is 20 yards deep, twice the length of the end zones in the NFL which are 10 yards. So in total, the CFL field is 150 yards while the NFL is 120.



The CFL plays Canadian football, a form of gridiron football which is somewhat different from the more common American football played in the United States and other parts of the world.


In Canada's league, teams are awarded three downs in order to gain 10 yards. This was actually the norm in football when it was first created.

I like watching CFL games. I find the NFL to be interminably boring most of the time and I like how fast-paced the Canadian games are.

I have no experience watching the CFL, but back when the XFL was going, I used to take an interest in that. The XFL eventually merged with the USFL. I don't really have any proof of this, but my speculation is that the pandemic created a stumbling block for the nascent XFL which pretty much gave them no choice.

I don't really get into watching the NFL. But, there were some differences between the XFL and NFL (which I can't recall!), that made sense to me. It was also faster paced.

Every year that goes by I have less interest in the NFL. Too slow-paced and far, far too many rules/penalties to be engaging. I just don't have 3 hours to commit to something with such little action; would rather watch a Premier League game with non-stop action, no commercials (except the half) and you are in and out in 2 hours flat.
