debug hum er rations

yes-- it seems odd how some do it and some dont-- I dont guess its the pots-- as -- its a PCB board....cant change those and I didnt change those--

like I say -- I dont KNOW exactly WHY they do it-- just glad the shielding fixed it---

HERE is a QUIRKY thought ---

MAYBE the crappy plastic ground connector on the PCB -- that fell apart under my thumb.............wasnt "grounding" everything properly.....and the only thing I REALLY needed to do was break it and SOLDER the ground to the lug?

Nope....I see this all the time and it has nothing to do with grounding.

That "crappy plastic connector " really is a great part. You just have to be easy with it.

What if indeed. What if you just shielded the control cavity, and provided another quality path to ground for that circuit. If it wasn’t a humbucker equipped guitar, I wouldn’t have thought much about it....and didn’t until you said that the Hum got louder as you decreased the volume.
Did I miss you saying anything....like you were receiving radio transmissions....the voices?

OH -- I assure you I HEAR VOICES----that has been well documented on this forum (and several self help forums) -----
perhaps -- and (some other big words) I should SKIP shielding the Les Paul JR --- and just break the plastic clip and solder the ground???? What then MR smart guy ?>??
what THEN! -- I say again for affect-- (punctuation IS LIMITING) ?? hhhmmmm? what -- what -- ?

I think you missed something in Adrian's post.

Either way, and in any event, the problems are well documented from a number of sources, whether you choose to believe the phenomena or not doesn't change anything.
Oh, do tell....what you think I missed.

I don’t think that is the entire truth. Even Adrian’s actual Gibson electronic issues are outnumbered by other manufacturers in his stable. 25% of Adrian’s problems are with Gibson electronics...75% are with other manufacturers.

100% are with mental issue ;) ...er and taxes.....

wait---
DAMN IT THERE IS MATHS INVOLVED?!?!?!?!?!

where is my slide rule a calculator? .........................................carry the one...........................................divide by pie........ER we have pie?!?!?!

I would consider shielding the single coils....the humbucker I suspect was a ground fault.
Try out your pedal before investing the time though...by all means.

What pickups are in the Peavey?
And is the control cavity already shielded(as Peavey was known to do)?

Alright then....let’s put it this way....
Johnny has 8 girls working the corner for him....

wait TBTF --- I have a LOT of PROBLEMS with Gibson...........I mean really -- its past my bed time so I will not go into the entire multipage list........but "hum" is just the TIP of the Iceberg ..........
VIVA NORLIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes but what about your problems with:
The math
The man
The low number of Mesas in your office
The squirrels(look! He’s eating my headstock!)
The soldering iron
The man
The math
???

Ill take three girls for 50.00 $ Johnny ;)
er which peavey --- damn it I need a score card......I cant keep the horses straight in this race .......
the Patriot -- no -- no shielding
the Unity Bass also no copper but paint
the Squires -- are a hodge podge some have paint some dont -- none have copper--
some black stuff I ASSUME is proper paint on the Warwick but it hums like a hooker on crack -- so Im guessing its flat black "paint" .......or a bad ground.........

dang it DOn -- why must you make me think???? why????

Hmmmmm....the Dyna basses, the T-40, the T-15, and the Tracer I’ve worked on were all shielded nicely...ashtrays or foil in them all. Maybe I just got lucky, but every Peavey cavity I’ve cracked open has had some shielding from the factory.:(

well ya been dang lucky then
cause Ive owned and been inside a SHITE PILE of them and no they do NOT all have the shielding you mention -- most (yes) --all--nope
her is the isnide of the unity bass... somewhat "slapdash" eh?

Wow! You aren’t kidding!
The only thing that I would re-flow on that(from the picture) is the negative intersection on the output jack. Where the bare bus-wire, and the black wire hook together.
What pickups? Single coil SUPERFERRITE?

Schaller "P" and "J"

it will be getting some new 1/4 pounders in the P section the "J" pup is decent --

and it will get SHIELDED ---

the Peaveys and really ALL the many guitars I have rubbed my junk on seem to be a hodge podge some shielded some not-- some quiet some not ---

Im hoping the DEBUGGER is a simple fix -- for any of them be it 60 cycle hum in a shieled strat--- or funky wiring in a vintage Peavey ---becasue frankly at the level of voluime coming in and out of here--- I dont have time to shield all of them
