The drummer called me today and asked if I wanted to work on a new project.

On 12/25/2018, I was recording a cover of Immigrant Song at a private studio in Burbank. later that evening, asked my bassist friend - Keli Wilde - (of August Redmoon and Mutiny) if he would cut the bass tracks for me. I sent him the files and he tracked the bass, then dropped the finished work into my Dropbox.

Kelli Wilde died on February 4th, 2019 and his bass tracks are the last thing that he and I recorded together.

Our plan today is to re-record Ffej Rednil's 12/25/2018 drum tracks with DeadPedal's Robert Phillips on the throne. We are also going to use several "lost" vocal tracks that I recorded to complete this song for release before January 1st, 2022.

This song will serve as a living monument to Keli Wilde.

Ok,

Here's the basic tracks for the song. Obviously, we are leaving Keli Wilde's bass in the mix as it was originally recorded, on 12/25/2018. This was originally recorded on his Gibson Thunderbird direct-out into a Behringer V-Amp Pro Rack Mount. Keli played two bass tracks, back-to-back, and they are panned out 60% left and right. His track to track timing was remarkable.

The rhythm guitars consist of 4 separate tracks. On the left channel, there are two separate tracks and they are panned out to 40% and 80% respectively.

On the right track, I am playing in a higher register and those two, separate tracks are panned out to 30% and 70% respectively to give a sense of breadth and width.

To make the guitars stand out sonically, I altered the original alternate picking used by Sir Page to a straight down-picked cadence. It requires a lot more energy to keep up with the tempo, but it gives a more urgent, deliberate feel to the song. I also changed the chord structure of the second (higher register) guitars near the point where the guitars resolve at the end of the chorus. This creates an audible difference in the guitars and lets the listener know you are hearing multiple guitars.

Drums and vocals are pending....

I'd welcome any and all comments on how it sounds on your devices and also how the overall mix balances the guitars and bass.
