David Gilmour on P-90 Les Paul

I've read that many of his solos were originally recorded in the studio on that '56 Les Paul. Comfortably Numb being one of them.

That’s interesting. So, I wonder why he tends to mostly play his Strat for live use. I wonder if it’s a visual thing or if he prefers the lighter weight of the Strat.
 

JUST listen to Dave on the Strat on You Must Be Crazy. I cannot even hear this even coming from an LP even if it has a Bigsby and P90's.

Something about his ethereal sound. Just saying.
