Damn amp woes!

You know how I've been trying to sell the Quilter right? Well, I fired it up today and I'll be damned if it doesn't sound better than the Amp 1. The Amp 1 is a bit more versatile with 4 real channels and lots possibility of tweaking all, plus it's made to sit on a pedal board. Sure I can put the Quilter there too but there'll be no room for the pedal to switch it. Do I need to though? 90% of what I play can be played on a single channel and the volume on the guitar.

Maybe I should just sell the Amp 1?

Or... more comparing...

Can you explain why your Quilter sounds better than your Amp 1?
I can try but it's hard to describe sounds using words and we also tend to perceive them a bit differently :)

They are both great amps and I think that the Amp 1 comes pretty close to actually sounding like the JTM45 that Thomas Blug got tired of lugging around. The Quilter sounds much smoother to me though and retains amazing clarity even when the gain is on full tilt where the Amp 1 becomes muddy.

The Amp 1 has a great EQ section and there are preset knobs to match the channels to each other in tone and volume but it has a tendency to become either muddy or shrill if you're not careful. The Quilter just aounds more rounded and smoother. A lot of it is probably preferences, neither amp sounds bad.

The Amp 1 is more home at on a pedal board and with 4 channels, the EQ preset knobs for each channel, the built in boost and reverb and all foot switchable it's definitely more versatile than the Quilter. I still think I'll fix the Quilter on the pedal board and run with that though, it just sounds so good to me.
