CreamTone Pickguard for my SG

At the ETSG forum, Gahr posted some pics and info of his SGs modified with the wide beveled pickguards made by CreamTone. So of course, I had to have one. But my 50th Anniversary Pete Townshend SG is kind of an oddball. Therefore, CreamTone had to build me a one-off custom, which also reflected the final price.

At first, I was surprised in the roughness of the beveled edges. Especially the straight edges at the left of the guard. Maybe this is normal with wide beveling? I was able to smooth the edges a bit by using different grits of a cloth-type abrasive like the 3M Flexible Polishing Papers that you can get at StewMac.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the looks. Makes this SG Special even more Special...

Looks awesome. Perfect match for the vibe of the guitar.

I think those rough bevel edges are "period correct" so they keep doing them that way. Remember, if Gibson did it after 1965 it sucks ;)
