Covid

The latest numbers also reinforce the demographic shift in infection spread: the 20-to-29 age group had the most number of new cases, followed by 30 to 39s, with the numbers generally decreasing with each older age cohort

Ottawans, we moved into the Red zone as COVID-19 levels were rising 2 wks ago + the curve has only worsened. 2 weekends ago we had lovely weather + a lot of socializing. I am seeing many people test positive after being in groups at restaurants, with transmission even outdoors,” she wrote.

Our numbers are rising here in British Columbia, same as Ontario the demographic is shifting younger. The bars and restaurants were shut down for indoor seating last week, only takeout and outdoor patios. The ski hills at Whistler were closed by a health order. They had over 300 cases in a week. This is a very small resort town with no hospital. Most of the cases were the Brazilian variant which spreads like wildfire. Through contact tracing they found many people had visited the resort then taken COVID home to their families. The Brazilian variant is causing a lot of problems. Over 20 players and coaches on the Canucks hockey team tested positive for it last week. The NHL is in isolation so they can't figure out where it came from.

I saw an alarming story last week - Washington state reported over 100 new cases of Covid in fully vaccinated people.
The vaccines may not be as effective against new variants as we'd hoped.

I'm at high risk because of a rare lung disease and the immunosupressant I take for it.
Just got my second dose this past Saturday and was looking forward to not worrying so much, dammit.

You still need to take precautions even though you have the shots, mask up and stay away from groups of people, you can catch it outdoors if you are around people, even with the shots there is still chance of getting the virus, In majority of cases if you get covid the shots will keep you from going to hospital or dying. Nothing is 100% guarantee, I am looking forward to getting the shots, as soon as i can possibly get them.

Got my first shot of the Pfizer this morning. Have to wait three weeks for number 2, but it feels pretty good to get it.
