I do not write music, I have never tried, but I have no desire to write, there is lots of music out there that I like to play, or play and sing. Rock and Blues is mostly my genre to play. I do like to listen to many genres of music though..

I've tried to write and have a few times. I'm extremely not an "artsy" type, so I don't feel the ...art in it and get bored quickly. Just my .02 on the matter.

What little creativity I have does not extend to music or lyrics. So like Norm. Stick to covers.

I can't write a thing to save my life. Fact is, I'm a hack on my best day and pitiful on my worst. I can come up with a quick riff and make it sound like SOMETHING every now and then, but I often forget it literally 20mins later and if I didn't film it, it's lost forever. But it's just that: a riff. I can't put it to structure and I cant engineer any proper sounding recording. Covers I tend to know but when I really think about it, I'm screwing them up too and not the way they ought to be.

I like to write originals. I tend to agonize over lyrics, and tend to leave a lot of stuff for “later.” Whenever that may be.

Lately, I’m forcing myself to learn more covers to help with creativity. That way I can learn some new riffs, chord arrangements, or any extra sauce that I overlook by getting wrapped up in my own stuff, and to progress and learn something.

I do many covers but have done some originals and have many ideas right now and parts of songs.
Just not a lyricist so need to get going with the Whiplash singer on that.

I like to play covers as I pick and choose whatever really cool guitar parts I want to play. I come up with widdly whiddly crap all the time but forget it all. I do not have the songwriter gene, oh well.

I’ve only helped write the music to 1 song that Iron1 and I published. Created basslines for a couple of other songs with Ramo.
But that’s about it.

I should add - many of the solo parts of covers I improvise. Gives me a chance ro do my own thing and simply rock out. It's for run, right?

I need to follow your lead because I don't do many covers. I have but I don't prefer doing them.
