Covers that just kick ass

I really find this cover really interesting, might I say better than the original. It's out there man, on a whole new level.

In a weird way, this reminds me of Nigel Kennedy's version of Purple Haze.

I still think this one is one of the best covers of all time.

As is this one...

And, another classic completely turned on it's head (by the greatest rock and roll singer of all time) ......

Couldn't resist

G, you and I sure think alike. I was not thinking of Tool, but I did think of Zep.

When Van Halen first came out, I was only about 13. I knew very little about historical R n R bands such as the Kinks.
BUT true story here, I dug VH's You Really Got Me. and for years and years I loved that song.

So, I thought this had to be some kind of spoof when I heard it on 98 Rock ( gball and donO may remember that station)
I still to this day think the Kinks version sounds kind of dorky compared to VH's Hot rodded version.

Haha, yeah we do tend to tune into the same frequency music-wise, which probably actually does have something to do with listening to 98 Rock and DC 101 incessantly during those formative years.

Can't say I have ever enjoyed The Kinks, and really only flirted with liking Van Halen (and that was only because EVH was so singular and I was all about learning guitar at the time) but definitely appreciate the impact that both had.
