Couple Questions about camera/video

Working in 16x16 but 12 x16 area is the place for the band, . Can arrange any way needed. We might set up amps firing at drums from opposite wall & all hang there at drums like a stage setting so we used to same ol same ol everywhere we go
In that case I'd go with a GoPro and some decent light. You can always get an exchangeable lens camera later, or more GoPro's. A GoPro Hero 8 is around $350, a used 7 is less than that and still an excellent camera.

Go pro or the next bump up in a Sony ? and thank you for the help, appreciated
An entry level Sony or Fujifilm would be more versatile and better all round cameras. I'm worried about the field of view though. If you have a 16x16 room and the band ocvupies 12x16, an 18mm lens won't be wide enough. It would be a different thing if you had a camera man moving around but capturing the entire scene with an 18mm lens won't work. You can certainly get a wider angle lens for the camera but moving away from the kit lens would be expensive. You could also go for a full frame camera instead of APS-C to loose the 1.5x crop factor but that would be even more expensive.

Looking at new cameras they are the same price. The cheapes mirrorless Sony is $50 more expensive than the cheapest Nikon DSLR, both including kit lenses. The cheapest mirrorles Fujifilm is exactly the same price as the cheapest Nikon.
I was talking more brand compared to brand. A Nikon D3500 is $500 for the 2-lens kit. Their Z50 is $1200. Canon is the same issue, while Sony doesn't offer DSLR's anymore. Sony has been doing Mirrorless longer than anyone so they are relatively cheaper than their Nikon or Canon counterparts. Still, Canon and Nikon both offer kits at sub $500 range, the Sony mirrorless kits start at $700.

There is another option too but it only works really well with mirtorless cameras. You can buy a $15 lens mount adaptor for pretty much any brand of old manual focus lenses, tou mount them on your mirrorless camera. This opens up a to whole world of cheap old glass.

Yes, you are right there but the Z50 isn't really an antry level camera, it's more compareable to the Fujifilm X-T4 or the Sony A7 II.

Neither Canon, nor Nikon offer entry level mirrorless cameras.

My 2 cents is something with wide angle lens. I have Sony and Olympus. You can get a good Olympus mirrorless fairly cheaply and if you edit audio at the computer you don't need a mic in jack on camera. Go Pro is OK but quite limited. I have a hero 9.
One thing about Olympus they have the best in camera stabilization. no biggie if you use a tripod but for hand held work especially in lower light it cannot be beat. No special lenses required.
The thing that will get you with any of these is a really wide angle lens.
Also look at the standard DSLR offerings from Nikon etc and you might be able to get a really wide angle for it as well. Nikon makes a 10-20mm (so about 16mm equivalent) for fairly reasonable as an example.

Thebone drawbackbofbthe Olympus is the micro 4/3 sensor with 2x crop factor. Good for tele photo but when you need wide angle.

While the M10 is digital, it is still rangefinder style focus. I still have all my old Olympus gear too and film. Really good lenses. I just never use 'em. OM-4, OM-1N, etc.
You got some bulletproof old boys there!
I want to get an old Hasselblad sometime for fun.
