I know most people on TTR are guitar or bass players and there isn’t a lot of luv out there for accordions in general. However, I was originally hoping to restore this Cordovox setup so an accordion player could luv on an old amplifier setup like we guitar players like doing. But, this is starting to look dim when it comes to the tone generator cab section. With that in mind I’m look’n for some help in form of a possible direction to now take with this Cordovox setup.
I talked with an accordion player that has used the Cordovox stuff in the past. I found out the original pieces for this Cordovox setup consisted of the Amp cab, Preamp/Tone Generator cab, and either the Cordovox Super 6 or 7 accordion. The Leslie cab was evidently and ‘extra’ piece. The accordion guy I spoke with said that pretty much the only accordions that will work with the preamp/generator cab are Cordovox accordions designed/made too. So…
To properly test the Tone Generator cab I'm going to need one of the following:
1. Cordovox Super VI CG-6 accordion
2. Cordovox Super VII CG-7 accordion
3. Possibly a keyboard that will hook up to it.
- I've seen one video on youtube where an old keyboard was being used to play thru the same setup
4. Someone who owns the above and is willing to help me out by coming over and playing my Cordovox setup to help bring it back to life for use.
So, what to do ???
1. Set the tone generator off to the side until I find something that works with it, so it can be tested and so on.
2. Convert the tone generator to a preamp head
- strip the tone generator circuit board for parts
- mod the present Cordovox preamp section down to volume and tone controls type thing
- cut the cab down to a cab for the modded preamp chassis
3. Strip the tone generator cab to build another amp in it
- strip the circuit boards for parts
- put some 12's or 10's in the cab
- build a tube amplifier inside the present cordovox preamp chassis type thing
*** #3 would also mean I’d probably be making a tube (possibly solid state) preamp head to go with cordovox amp and leslie cabs.
4. ???
So, anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, or ideas other than letting the Ferengi beat the tone generator into oblivion with a hammer?
