Epiphany moment, what this dude is saying I am not a follower of or huge fan of him making a big deal out of nothing and I thought going in to this video , here we go again. Another over emphasized gear video but no.
Past 6:27 he drops the bomb shell
Tiptons gear on the unforgettable tittle track Painkiller

Spent much of my youth playing around with a friend’s/bandmate’s ADA MP1, into a Peavey Classic 50/50…lots of Metallica meets Queensrych type of noise…in a good way. Probably why I had enjoyed recording demos for bands that included 5150 heads on Marshall straight cab’s. That sim sounds pretty spot on to what I remember…when I hear it against hardware, I’m not instantly turned off. Thanks for sharing.

I remember when he was a new guy, ranting on screwtube…I’ve never been on the hater side of Glenn…I just have to be in the mood to hear him speak/rant. He seems to always be on the crest of recording tech, often in a good way…not always…but often. He has a nose for the tools. I would like to get some playtime with the kick mic he mentioned…betting it slays on heavy guitars, and other things.

It’s kind of an advertisement from Nembrini but good on him revealing stuff common mortals don’t know . i.e. connections in the industry.

Oh and besides previous mentioned metal bands , one of the most sought after tones ever is Rust in Peace. Every metal head gear
junkie is trying to get that sound.

Yep…kinda like the Audix D6 kick mic, isn’t just for kicks…it does really well on a bass cab.
Besides the mics Bdon , do you use Celestian Vintage 30’s?

I have a chance to grab a new 112 with a Vintage 30 for $200. I should probably grab it for the price. I want the speaker but the cab looks good to.
There are some variations in manufacturing, and thus sound, with the Vintage 30s over the years. Rule of thumb for some is to light up the front, and if you can see through the dust cap…it is one of the more desirable ones. The whole thing is a rabbit hole, and Glenn has been living in it for years. It’s one of his favorite speakers to record metal, but the ones with the more dense(not see through) dust caps sound different from the older pre-China production models…it seems that has been remedied over the last year or so.

Here’s one V30 vid….

Edit: This is the type of video from Glenn that keeps me checking in on his channel…

That explains a lot , however there is no way to tell in on line stores. Unless they have a picture of the dust cap with good light.
