Australian makes Kurt Cobain guitar the world's most expensive, with $9m purchase

The 1959 Martin D-18E that Cobain played in the band's rare acoustic performance and subsequent live album was sold to Australian Peter Freedman, owner of Rode Microphones.

As usual I could care if someone wants to spend that much money on guitar - their money and now their guitar - their business
It is amazing to see how much fans with the bucks to spend will spend on memorability type stuff though...

Glorify the art, not the poor choices. We all make less than stellar choices at some point in our lives. I have been guilty of kicking myself in the teeth more than once lol

I don't look at Van Gogh paintings and think to myself, "wow, what a scumbag, drinking absinthe all the time like that...that guy had problems, therefore his art is worthless and ugly" lol

An aside about Van Gogh; I believe Vincent died protecting the identity of his killer. Nobody commits suicide by shooting themselves in the stomach.

Magnetic streamlines of the Milky Way, imaged by the ESA's Planck satellite, look like they could have been painted by Van Gogh.



There's no doubt that he was a deeply troubled individual, of course. And many ascribe the unique look of his art to fanciful imagination or delirium.
But perhaps he was perceiving something actual that others simply couldn't see.
